A fine 11" x 8" Satsuma model of an official seated in a wood grained horse shoe style chair, clothed in finely painted robes and trousers and holding a feather fan. Excellent detail and fine crackle finish. Ex-Sotheby's New York.

Condition: Good. There is an old chip to the nose, a broken fingertip on the hand holding the fan, and an old repair to the back and one side of the base.

An Oribe Ware plate with the impressed mark Rihei. 10" in diameter, the foot and base is carved. Decorated with a grove of pine trees, a village to the rear, a rock outcrop to the left, all painted in iron brown, accented with a splash of deep green glaze.

Condition: excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs.

Japanese female mask in the style of a Noh mask. This face may have been considered beautyiful many years back, but now it carries a heavy-duty insult to any ladies if they were to be called Otafuku-chan or Okame-san in Japanese. Otafuku-kaze is the mumps and there are popular snack beans called Otafuku-mame, shaped exactly like this face.

A Karatsu ware tea bowl with silver mending (gin-tsugi) which is mending technique, broken pieces are put together with urushi and then silver powder is applied. It has simple painting which is called E-karatsu. Karatsu ware has been produced in the east part of Saga and the north part of Nagasaki prefectures in Kyushu since late 16th century. This is a beautiful Japanese satsuma bowl from satsuma master Yabu Meizan. The minute detail and workmanship are spectacular. The Detail in hand is finer and more impressive than what is shown in these blown up images. It displays very well but unfortunately the bowl was broken and repaired. The price for this bowl is a fraction of the price an unresstored Yabu bowl would bring. But the spectacular artistry and skill needed to to create this piece, can still surpass most Meiji era satsuma pieces...

Antique Japanese small Bizen ware oil lamp in the form of Fukurokuju, one of the 7 Lucky Gods. Easily identified by his elongated head on top of which is a small bowl for oil. His expression is kind and he sits holding a large gourd (hyotan) in both hands. Fukurokuju is believed to be a sennin, a philosopher who can exist without eating food. His name literally means "happiness" (fuku), "wealth" (roku) and "longevity" (ju).

This is a beautifully decorated large 12 inch Japanese Satsuma vase from Kinkozan. It is unique and rare piece because of the gold wisteria decorations. The painting and fine enameling are exquisite. A fabulous vase that is in overall excellent condition. At one time it was made into a lamp. The drill hole has been masterfully restored. It is signed on the underside with an impressed mark and was never signed in gold in the center bottom.
