Out of his mouth comes the stem of the water container portion of the usubata. Inside the inverted conical container is a rounded form with ridges for holding flowers and branches in place...

A Japanese sword "menuki" of 3 sparrows that was converted into an obidome during the Taisho period. The bronze color of the metal gives a naturalistic brown coloration to the birds--their beaks, eyes and feet are highlighted in gold. The fitted back is in 9 karat gold. Age: Menuki 18th century.

Inlays are cut all the way through, so the image on the inside of the case is the mirror image of the one on the outside. The workmanship of the brazier is intricate with one side showing a motif of Chinese stye lions mingling among peonies and the other, geese flying over reeds in a marsh. A pair of antique Japanese vases finely cast with raised images on both highlighted with gold & shakudo. The images of a temple scene, hillside landscape with trees and monks are on one vase. The other vase has a scene of a bridge with people and a distant village. the clouds on each extend to the upper body.

Japanese large Cast Iron Tetsubin, Tea Kettle, Iron Tea Pot with Brass Cover, Ca. 1910, 11 1/2" high include handle, 6 3/4" high and 6 1/2" wide include spout for tea pot only, even textured body with very high relief design wide edge rim, and Brass cover rest into fitted lower rim. The loose Brass knob is repaired, shaped handle is metal, rust inside the pot.

This Japanese okimono quality bronze turtle has a champleve decorated shell that opens to reveal a pipe stand. The turtle measures about 6 1/2" long x 3" wide x 2" tall and dates to the turn of the Century. The turtle has the makers' impressed seal underneath. The condition is very good with just a chip to the end of the tail and the hinge pin is missing. The asking price includes shipping within the USA.
