A rare Japanese porcelain water dropper in the form of a cat. The cat is covered in an overall Pink glaze. The dropper measures about 2 3/4" long x 2" high, and is in perfect condition. A Fukagawa porcelain 11 3/4 inch long covered tureen. Iris decoration from Chuji Fukagawa's own 19th century design book. Blue underglaze and red, yellow and gold overglaze enamel decoration including butterflys inside the cover. Mt. Fuji mark inside the foot ring and Mt Fuji with Fukagawa Sei inside the cover. A large dish used for raw fish or shellfish (mukozuke) for the tea ceremony in which guests are served. It measures at 11.75” square x 2” high. This dish is designed in the traditional Japanese ascetic of simple brush strokes and relaxed design; such a dish was not intended for export and does not conform to the Western ascetic of gaudy and over crowded design. A true testament of genuine Japanese tradition. The plate dates to the late Meiji to early Tashio period (1900-20).

Japanese vase with a view of a temple near a lake within the mountainside. The way the bamboo is painted and the serene setting is seen in similar pieces done in Kutani and Kyoto wares. Rare and massive 4-colour (white, blue, black and red) hand painted porcelain Hibachi, top condition, Pine branch tips and Crane motif. This piece has smaller key fret designs encircling the top and the bottom as well as very elegant and decorative diaper patterns. Pre 1920, Japan, size: H. 24cm x 30cm diameter

Japanese Blue & White Imari Porcelain deep Serving Dish, Ca. 1920, deep flat bottom dish for serving food, 12" diameter, 2 3/4" high, with underglaze blue decoration of mountain, pine tree and Japanese style house. Wide border of flowers in blue transfer design on inside and outside the rim, transfer blue mark on the bottom. Stained old chip 1/2" wide on the foot rim, and some scratches on top of the dish.

Japanese Imari Porcelain covered Serving Bowl, Ca. Meiji period, 1868-1912, 5 3/4" high, 9 3/4" diameter-widest measurement, with typical Imari overglaze decoration of egret, Foo Dog playing with balls inside the shaped enclosures on top of underglaze blue decoration with highlighted in gold, small sand kiln dots inside the bowl, no damages.

Nabeshima hard porcelain dish. Okawachi kilns. Decoration in underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze enamels. Although the model already exists at the beginning of the 18th century, we do not believe that the dish presented here is authentic. The enamels are perfect, one can distinguish with a magnifying glass discreet wear of use and the enamels show age cracks, but the cobalt blue on the reverse is too pale. It is not a modern copy, as it has been in the Sakura collection for about forty years...

A beautiful pair of Japanese bowls by Koransha, “the company of the scented orchid”, c 1920 or earlier. Decoration in under-glaze blue of leaves, and berries and smaller leaves in over-glaze red and turquoise. Height "2¼/ 6 cm, diameter "4/ 10,5 cm. Condition: restored chip to foot-rim of one bowl, as seen on photos.

Pink and blue iris blossom among the green promise of Spring promised on this elegant vase by Miyagawa (Makuzu) Kozan enclosed in a wooden box annotated by the current head of the Makuzu Family in Kyoto, Makuzu Kosai. It is titled Yukasai Shobu no zu Kabin. It is 30.7 cm (12 inches) tall and in excellent condition...

From our Japanese Collection, a good kutani baluster-shaped jar and cover, Meiji Period (1868-1912), executed in traditional kutani palette of iron-red, green, yellow, and gilt highlights, depicting a continuous scene of figures gathered around the circumference of the piece. A small but charming example of genuine 19th century kutani.
