This is a very refined studio vase from the Meiji era. The subtle colors and detail are truly beautiful. It is signed by one of the Japanese porcelain masters, Nishiura Enji. The work on Mt Fuji is raised relief and give off a three dimensional look. The shape is elegant and the changing colors are vry elusive. The vase stands just over 6 inches tall and is in excellent condition.

DESCRIPTION: A Japanese Imari porcelain dish, shaped in “double fish” form and decorated in traditional Imari colors with floral designs in rust red, and fish scales and fins in royal blue. An old Japanese saki storage bottle in good condition except for some manufacturing flaws which only add to its character and charm. This large scalloped-rim dish is painted in underglaze cobalt blue with a folk art “mingei” view of Mt. Fuji with pine trees and stylized sailboats on a lake. The painting is hastily brushed in the mingei manner, with a few cobalt drips here and there. It is raised on a low footring with the paste exposed, and six spur marks remain on the glazed base. It was used as a serving vessel for family or communed meals and retains some evidence of use. No repairs or cracks...

Rare blue sharkskin porcelain tea caddy with a bird, flowers, and butterflies. The bird and butterflies are glossy and do not have the sharkskin texture giving this piece a beautiful contrast which was not an easy feat for the artist to achieve. The blue background graduates from light at the bottom to darker shade of light blue at the top. Signed and in excellent condition, it measures 6 inches tall with lid on.

This is Japanese porcelain vase from one of the great Meiji artists. It is signed Kawamoto Hansuke. The vase has a wonderful stout shape and is very heavy. A set of 7 fluted plates decorated with various plants symbolic to Japanese culture and motifs often seen in Japanese porcelains known as Imari ware. The plates contain an inscription, kigyoukuhoutei no chin, that often is associated with a specific type of Imari ware known as Daiseiji Imari ware.
