A small food bowl in the shape used today for rice in North Asia (Japan, China, etc.) The shape would have been prized in its day in Japan as an export ware of Thailand used as a Tea Bowl for matcha (Matcha Chawan.) Excellent condition, still suitable for matcha use today.

Mother nursing her child, probably from the Sawankhalok kilns. The body of the hand-modeled figure is rather hastily sculpted as is the doll-like child. This hastiness is typical of figures such as this one which were made in large numbers and distributed as fertility charms. This one, however, has more care taken in defining the facial features of the mother as well as her hairstyle...

Well potted with thick, even celadon glaze overall except for the unglazed base and foot. The glaze is of a deep green tone and crackled all over covering the interior of the neck as well. Three floral form appliques decorate the shoulder just below three concentric rings leading up to the neck. A few minor earth stains remain from burial. Overall very good condition.
