Late Meiji period (1890s to 1912) Japanese wooden kushi (hair comb) with brown and gold lacquer decoration and inlaid semiprecious green stone, design continuing onto the back. Beautifully made out of dense brown wood allowing for fine teeth, superb lacquering, wonderful work in Japanese taste, some losses as can be seen on photos. Length 3.32 inches.

Miniature shrine, or zushi, with figure of Bishamonten, carved in wood.
Bishamon stands on a demon that is lying on a rock. In his left hand he holds a pagoda and in the right a short staff or stick. Behind his head a gilt metal flaming mandorla. The garment of Bishamonten is decorated in gold paint, the crown and mandorla made of gilt copper.

This figure of a guardian foo dog is of a natural rich brown unglazed ceramic with white glazed eyes, eyebrows, teeth, claws, and a line of spots on the spine. It is very well-modeled by hand with a highly expressive face and jaws. The chocolate-colored body is also offset by a black glazed mane and tail. The modeling represents an anatomically correct male. There is a loss to the tip of one ear, as well as the tip of the tail...

A beautiful Ming Wanli blue and white large kendi (pouring vessel). this kendi has globular body with tubular neck, disc shape mount and globular spout, decorate with under glaze blue galloping horse, flower spray and blue base continuous flower motif on the shoulder, Buddhist symbols and peach motif at the spout, neck with raised leaves motif.
Kendi is in very good condition, no chip, no crack, no restoration, porcelain with good glaze.

An interesting Japanese puppet head of an old woman used in Bunraku, the traditional puppet theater developed in the Edo period by Uemura Bunrakuken, which the name of the puppet theater was derived from. The puppet consists of several moving parts. The head and neck are two separate pieces that move up and down. The bar on the bottom assist the puppet master to move the head in various ways and the rope as a lever. Age: 19th century. Size: Height: 11" Width: 7" Length: 4"

A beautiful and elegant beige Han Chinese Lady’s silk robe. The beige ground has woven patterns of flowers and butterflies on which different kind of flowers and large butterflies in multicolored silk floss are embroidered. Borders in dark blue bands with embroidered flowers; cuffs in yellow silk ground with embroidered Immortals in garden scenes. Lining in light blue silk. Central frontal opening. Japanese antique tansu chest for storage of paper, made of kiri (paulownia) wood, nine drawers of different sizes (3 long, 3 medium, and 3 small), iron hardware with warabite shaped drawer pulls, two of the smaller drawers have lock plates, wonderful side hardware with handles for carrying, kiri wood has nice grain and beautiful natural over all patina, Late Edo Period (c1850) Size: 28 1/4" high x 44 1/4" wide x 16 3/4" deep.

This is japanese Indigo dye shibori cotton kimono textile of the Meiji era(1868-1910). It has a few thin stains. However, it does not have damage.It is made of hand-spun natural indigo dyed cotton. 1920s chosen matsu (Korean pine wood) netsuke of a rooster. Perfectly captured essence of the creature, carved in characteristic Hida school style with clever use of wood colors and structure to add to the charm of the piece. Excellent sense of volume, eyes are inlaid with black horn, beautiful patina. Length 1.76 inches.

This is a very fine and attractive Mt Fuji wireless cloisonne box. It actually looks very similar to a Mt Fuji Sosuke tray we once had. It is not signed butthe artist is most likely Ando or Gonda. The Box measures 5 1/4 by 4 inches and s 2 3/8 inches tall. The box is beautiful and perfect except for some odd tool marks on the inner rim of the lid.

This is a wonderful Japanese covered tea cup of Kutani Ware. It was made 150 years ago.

It has a vivid and strong granular hand painting called 'ao chibu'.

The cup has painted kanji letters on the inside. No chips, cracks or repairs.
