This marked bowl is one of 2 bowls which do come from an old German colletion. The condition of the glaze of the bowl is so perfect and glossy that it simply is impossible that this bowl an excavated piece. The glaze of this bowl is so much better than the glaze of excavated pieces so that this bowl must be an rare unearthed piece which already in very early times - maybe hundreds of years ago - came to Europe. Late Ming Dynasty, ca. 1600

Glazed with turquoise, amber and green enamels, this laughing Buddha holds his large belly with one hand, and clasps a rosary in the other. The back is unglazed and a stabilized hairline extends from the foot to the top of the base. There is a collection inventory number incised on the rear base and there is a small chip to the foot. It is accompanied by a later carved wooden base.

A small teapot, in late 18th Century English (Leeds) shape, delicately painted with famille rose enamels. This item was made in China for export, circa 1790-1830 - probably during the reign of the Jiaqing emperor. Condition very good - there is a little wear to the gilding and there are two surface chips to the enamels (please see enlargements 10 and 12) but no other damages, no cracks and no restoration...
