A hawk rests on an elaborate perch, the feathers fluffed up, each uniquely carved on this rare okimono from the Mushiake kilns of Okayama prefecture. It comes in an ancient kiri-wood box. The notation on the side of the box states it was received in late Meiji 27 (1894) from the former Head of the Okayama fief Ikeda Mochimasa. The name of the recipient has been redacted, as is often the case when things change hands in Japan. It is 24 x 7.4 x 29 cm (9 x 3 x 11-1/2 inches)...

This is the Katazome cotton festival costume used in Edo during the Edo period. It is dyed with natural indigo. Cotton is hand-spun and thick. It has a few repair marks, but it doesn't stand out. The condition is good and there are no stains. Size: Length 142cm / 55.9inch Cuff to cuff, across the back: 122cm / 48inch Box.c

Kawaguchi Bunzaemon Basse Taille Silver Vase Marked, circa 1900's

It is 8.5 inches (21.5 cm) tall by 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) wide.

It has black spots at the enamel, a small spot of tarnished enamel underneath the opening with enamel cracks, and surface wears and scratches. It also has tarnished metal and dents at the metal's bottom's rim (as seen in the photos).

This ceramic Colima warrior is 6" long. It is in perfect condition with no dings, restoration or repair. It is from the estate of the late Lynn Langdon. The figure was acquired in Mexico in the mid-20th century and is attributed to the Colima horizon, c.300BC-300AD. A superb quality very large pottery figure of a male attendant or official, dating to the earlier Ming Dynasty, 1400-1500 AD.

The figure is placed on a high hexagonal plint and wears a fine two-colour blue and turquoise glazed robe. The unglazed areas have pigmented colors in red, black and white. Finely painted facial details.

The head is attachable as often seen on the largest figures from this period.

A wonderful head of a stargazer idol in a rare hard greyish stone for this type, a female idols of Kiliya type, Anatolia, c. 3000-2500 BC.

The type with a triancular head, pronounced ridge and protuding eyes.

19th century or earlier Japanese sword set of fuchi (bordering piece between the sword guard and the handle) and kashira (metal pommel at the end of the hilt of a sword) with design of geese in flight over fishing boats with woven roofs and oars moored among reeds in the marshes. Excellent set in Japanese taste with wonderfully captured mood of autumnal melancholy. Very well made, some wear to gilding. Kashira length 1.41 inches, fuchi length 1.48 inches.

Larger than usual kylix of Ionian shape showing a deep rounded bowl with high steep rim and slightly tilted handles attached on the belly. The trumpet-shaped foot with flattened resting surface.
The outside of the rim and the handle zone are reserved, as well as the small band inside the lip...
