A very beautiful and rare bronze mace head, Western Asian, dating to the 2nd. millenium BC

A rare Luristan bronze mace head. The upper body with a segmented swelling, bordered by bands, interesting large discus at each end, makes it a very rare type.

Size: ca. 129 mm. high and massive.

Condition: Superb, with excellent brown and green patina - a gem!

Provenance: Old Danish private Collection (Hans Henningsen), bought in the 1980s in London.

This is a great Japanese cloisonne bowl. We are quite confident the artist was Kumeno. The bowl while being very attractive does have some condition issues. There are lines and some slight enamel loss but it is still a dazzling display piece. The bowl measures 5 1/2 inches across and is 3 1/2 inches tall.

Condition: Choice and intact with small closed scratch and two minor chips, otherwise superb. Attractive bluish-black patina.

Small funeral mirror, of circular shape, decorated in relief with four frolicking chimeras and grapes. At the back,traces of the imprint of a textile. Bronze, with fine age patina. China, Tang Dynasty. Diameter: 6.8 cm. Very good condition. NOTE: this mirror is part of a small collection of funeral mirrors collected many years ago that we are starting to offer presently.

Beautiful small dish covered by white glaze and decorated with incised floral decorations; unglazed base . PERIOD : Song Dynasty (960–1279 AD) . MEASUREMENTS: 15 cm wide,. CONDITION: 1 cm hairline and frittings on the rim, but free from restorations.

A Jizhou bottle in Meiping form was applied on the surface with snowflakes glaze effects.
It was in perfect condition when crackles were yielded under the retrospective glaze...

A slightly larger than average pumpkin form Yixing teapot, with nice used patina, probably made in China during the 18th or 19th Century. This item does not carry a maker's mark. Condition - very good - there are light (production) firing cracks to the body (see enlargements 5 and 8) and there is a chip and some small firing cracks to the inside of the cover; no other damages and no restoration...

This is a Meiji Period nicely carved netsuke depicting a Seated Hotei, one of the Seven Gods of Fortune, the God of Contentment and Happiness, holding a fan on his right hand, and a gourd on his left hand. Very nice rounded functional form with a mellow patina. Signed Gyokuzan. Netsuke measures 1.82 inches (4.6cm) wide, 1.28 inches (3.2cm) deep, and 1.17 inches (3.0cm) tall. Netsuke is in excellent condition, as may be seen in the posted photos.

An antique Chinese glass snuff bottle with green overlay. The four sides inside painted with mountainous landscapes, signed. The stopper made of metal, the spoon painted bone or wood. Condition: traces of usage. Dimension: c. 9.3 cm high, 3.5 cm wide.

Ebisu sits on a rock, a bamboo stalk in the hand, as if holding a fishing rod, a giant red carp stuck under his arm. Daikoku stands on rice bales and holds his hammer in the hand. Around them a split daikon and the coat and hat of invisibility. On the lower right two seals: Kachutei Ninsei (or Jinsei). Ink and colors on paper (black outlines are hand painted, NOT printed). Painted area 11 ¾ x 18 1/8 inches...

Early 19th century netsuke carved as a Japanese martial arts MEN (kendo helmet) resting on a DŌ (breast protector) surrounded by a pile of seashells. Unique subject, a bit of a zen puzzle waiting for an answer. The helmet with a metal grill (men-gane) is used to protect the face and has a series of hard leather and fabric flaps to protect the throat and sides of the neck and shoulders...
