A pair of plates beautifully enameled, the well with a flower basket within an iron-red border and surrounded by various fruit and flowers, all in the early Famille Rose palette and gilt,including a pale pink.The back with Lingzhi fungus in iron-red. Chinese Export porcelain, Yongzheng period, c 1730. Diameter "9/ 23 cm. Condition: old bracket repairs and hairlines (cf. pics).

A round moon shaped Japanese kogo or incense box with sprinkled gold lacquer maki-e motif of an anthropomorphic rabbit pounding mochi. The rabbit wears a decorative robe with scrolling vine motifs. The interior of the box and foot are adorned with nashiji gold flake on black lacquer ground.

The subject comes from the tale of the rabbit who lives on the moon and prepares an elixir of immortality with a mortar and pestle similar to those used to pound mochi...

Sashiko stitched fabric. Tsutsugaki dyed cloth. Indigo background with red and white design. Two horizontal bands wrap around bottom of coat. Similar to reference work "Sumi Collection Hanten and Happi" coats on page 25. Used by firemen in late 19th century Japan to extinguish blazes. Hook and eye closure. Measures 49" sleeve to sleeve 49" long. Overall good condition, small wear on neck and side.

The dish has an unusual square form with indented corners and a raised almost vertical rim which suggests that it was probably intended to be used for the serving of sashimi, sliced raw fish. This type of dish is described in Japanese as a shihou-sumioshi sara. By the late Mid Edo period sashimi had been growing in popularity being prepared by professional chefs, and was served both in aristocratic and in wealthy households and Ryokan...

A fine lot of two large Hamsas, later Shan, but still Burma around 1800-1820 AD.

The Hamsas with one spike, standing on hexagonal bases. Clear 6-ray verification marks on both. Both V'tails.

Xuande mark, but ca. 1600s

This incense-burner has a flaring rim form raised on three ogee feet and has its original patina and considerable carbon incrustation from many years of use. Two lion's head handles embellish the body and the cast Da Ming Xuande mark is centered on the base. The interior is darkened from use and the exterior shows small areas of darkened bronze where not obscured by blackish patina. There is a slight dent to the rim. 1909's Japanese Nippon Porcelain Coralene Fully Beaded Bowl with Louts Flowers Marked

It is 4.72 inches (12 cm) tall by 7.28 inches (18.5 cm) wide. It weighs 1.7 lb.

It has a hairline crack at the lip and a small chip close to it. There are several small spots of missing coralene beads. It also has surface wears, rubbing of gold, and yellowing at the bowl's interior (as seen in the photos).

Squaty and stout Antique Japanese iron Tetsubin with iron lid. Hailstone covering top half of kettle. Bottom half has beautiful wear with soft ridging. An antique Japanese Isho Tansu (Kimono chest) in 2 sections made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original iron hardware with a natural patina acquired over many years. Upper section has 3 drawers and lower section has 2 drawers with a removable base at the bottom. Very thick wood used throughout this chest. Side handles to each section for ease of transport.

A six-sided porcelain wine pot warmer painted in Qianjiang style with a scene on one side from a Chinese opera relating to stories from the Three Kingdoms period. Condition - very good - there are glaze imperfections and there are two chips to the base rim (please view enlargement 2); no further damages and no restoration...
