This is a representation of Shotoku taishi (574 A.D.-622 A.D.), the young princely protector of Buddhism in Japan. At the age of twenty, he reorganized Japan by promoting Chinese Confucian and Buddhist principles. His well known "Constitution with 17 Articles" was the first written law of Japan. The articles begin by emphasizing the importance of harmony, which is still the foundation of the Japanese culture. The figure is from the Kutani kilns, 7 inches tall
A Brown Glaze Sung Dynasty Jar with four ears. There is expected wear to the glaze. Interestingly, the jar was flawed during it's manufacture with slumping / denting to the clay in its lower portion and which is noticeable in images. Diameter: 6.50 inches; Height 6.50 inches.

Rather unusual 19th century/Meiji period Satsuma ceramic jar with cover, decorated on the outside with figures of 4 Chinese boys at play in different attitudes, all on a dark brown ground. Wonderful quality detailed painting - see fine depiction of their faces and hands, flow of robe lines and rich textile patterns. Very unusual feature of totally enameled background. Mizusashi or kensui in the shape of a Chinese boy, or karako, holding Hotei’s large bag over his shoulder, as if dragging it.
Over brownish beige very fine stoneware a layer of mottled brown glaze has been applied, over which a blue-green finely crackled flambé dripping glaze. The inside covered with brown mottled glaze, the outside bottom left unglazed.
Impressed mark in the bottom: Kato Shuntai.

Chinese antique ceramic vase with white crackle glaze, a wonderful applied chimera figure is coiled around the neck of the vase with it's long tail trailing down on side, 18th century

A heavy six-sided porcelain deep bowl decorated on the outside with famille rose enamels depicting ladies and boys in a garden landscape. The base bears the six character seal mark ( painted in iron red) of the Tongzhi emperor (1862-1874).
Condition: there are enamel losses to the turquoise glazed interior: no losses to the famille rose enamels: no chips or cracks to the porcelain body and no restoration.
