LARGE WOODEN TRAY FROM JEJU ISLAND

A very beautiful cloisonne candy box, uniquely colored in both red and yellow; both symbolical of Chinese culture. The collar and shoulder are decorated with the highly stylized bat or ruyi cloud pattern, as well as the surrounding portion of the handle knob, along with floral and tendril foliage. Good condition, with a few tiny nicks, but hardly worth mentioning, save for accuracy sake. Original patina and antique charm well preserved, size 18 cm diameter or 7" and 6 cm or 2.5" high...

A Japanese porcelain tureen that is decorated with the various Imari colors and motifs. The brocade exterior design also features large flying cranes, scenes of ladies dancing, and the Chinese mark for longevity on the top to the lid.. The interior of the lid and bowl each show a lovely large basket full of persimmons. The serving bowl with lid measures about 6 1/2" high x 10 1/4" in diameter, and dates to the 19th Century. A Pwo Karen woman's tunic embroidered with lozenge-shaped and zigzag pattern, accentuated with Job's tears seeds. Condition: few loose threads and two lost seeds, clean. Dimension: c. 64 x 63 cm. A lovely Chinese famille rose vase featuring court ladies relaxing in a garden setting, a popular Chinese theme. Colors are still rich and vibrant with calligraphy on the back. Dated circa 1900,without any damage, no chips, hairlines, it measures: 17 inches high.

Ceramic ware under an opaque cobalt blue glaze and black markings, the surface with a spiders-web of golding irridescence!

Condition: Good Very fine for the type, almost 100% original glaze, perhaps some minor restaration to the lip of the rim, we're not 100% certain.

Antique Tibetan or Nepalese Buddhistic Thangka / Tangka, gouache on canvas, second half of the 19th century. In original condition, fastened to a wooden stick and o be rolled up with a cinnamon-brown silk cover to protect the painting which is framed by silk brocade of the same colour. The back with the name of the artist, a Buddhistic monk, finely inscribed in red. The picture itself represents one hundred boddhisatvas in various sizes and positions among clouds...

A superb quality Islamic dish, Seljuq period 12th century A.D. (494 AH – 597 AH). Ancient near East.

In wonderful green-blue glaze, the center decorated with a carved flower in the typical style of the Seljuqs.

Condition: Superb, with fine crackled glaze, intact.

Size: ca. 133 mm. wide (diameter)

Provenance: Important Danish-French Private Estate collection, (aquired 1970- c. 2007) of Islamic pottery ware from the 9th.-12th. century. Comes with COA.

Mongolian or Tibetan illustrated manuscript. 13 double sided leaves, coloured inks on paper. Wooden boards with cloth lining. Probably 18th century or earlier. Leaves 365 x 70 mm.

An oval brass seal and a square carnelian or glass seal, each with silver mount. The faces engraved with Arabic inscriptions, one dated. Condition: some traces of usage. Dimension: 1.6 cm long, 1.9 cm and 2.9 cm high (with loop).

This is a late Ming dynasty (16th / 17th Century) blue and white bowl. On the outside of the bowl it is painted, all around the bowl, with blue background with three sets of lotus flower and foliage and three white cranes or herons in white colour. On the inside of the bowl, a small lotus flower is shown blooming from the top view.

There is some abrasion, sand grits on the base and inside of the bowl as shown in the pictures and minute unglazed spots (pic 2)...

18th century painted wood netsuke of a sennin (Chinese sage) wearing a tattered robe and holding a bamboo stick in his hand and a double gourd on his shoulder. Netsuke represents Chokwaro sennin - a Chinese sage who could summon the magic horse out of his gourd to be transported wherever he wanted. Made in saishiki technique - the wood is covered with gesso, which in turn is painted in bright colors...

Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Saddled Walking Horse

This pottery model of a saddled horse was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is "heavily-potted" and made from a reddish pottery that is relatively highly-fired. The horse stands alert with its head head up and turned to its left. Its legs are spaced as though in the act of walking, as opposed to standing upright and still, as are the majority of Tang Dynasty pottery horses...
