A very beautiful cloisonne candy box, uniquely colored in both red and yellow; both symbolical of Chinese culture. The collar and shoulder are decorated with the highly stylized bat or ruyi cloud pattern, as well as the surrounding portion of the handle knob, along with floral and tendril foliage. Good condition, with a few tiny nicks, but hardly worth mentioning, save for accuracy sake. Original patina and antique charm well preserved, size 18 cm diameter or 7" and 6 cm or 2.5" high...
A Japanese porcelain tureen that is decorated with the various Imari colors and motifs. The brocade exterior design also features large flying cranes, scenes of ladies dancing, and the Chinese mark for longevity on the top to the lid.. The interior of the lid and bowl each show a lovely large basket full of persimmons. The serving bowl with lid measures about 6 1/2" high x 10 1/4" in diameter, and dates to the 19th Century. Mongolian or Tibetan illustrated manuscript. 13 double sided leaves, coloured inks on paper. Wooden boards with cloth lining. Probably 18th century or earlier. Leaves 365 x 70 mm.
An oval brass seal and a square carnelian or glass seal, each with silver mount. The faces engraved with Arabic inscriptions, one dated. Condition: some traces of usage. Dimension: 1.6 cm long, 1.9 cm and 2.9 cm high (with loop).
This is a late Ming dynasty (16th / 17th Century) blue and white bowl. On the outside of the bowl it is painted, all around the bowl, with blue background with three sets of lotus flower and foliage and three white cranes or herons in white colour. On the inside of the bowl, a small lotus flower is shown blooming from the top view.
There is some abrasion, sand grits on the base and inside of the bowl as shown in the pictures and minute unglazed spots (pic 2)...
18th century painted wood netsuke of a sennin (Chinese sage) wearing a tattered robe and holding a bamboo stick in his hand and a double gourd on his shoulder. Netsuke represents Chokwaro sennin - a Chinese sage who could summon the magic horse out of his gourd to be transported wherever he wanted. Made in saishiki technique - the wood is covered with gesso, which in turn is painted in bright colors...
Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Saddled Walking Horse
This pottery model of a saddled horse was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is "heavily-potted" and made from a reddish pottery that is relatively highly-fired. The horse stands alert with its head head up and turned to its left. Its legs are spaced as though in the act of walking, as opposed to standing upright and still, as are the majority of Tang Dynasty pottery horses...
