Old (1920's) Japanese Lacquer Inro with Boxwood Toad Netsuke by Masanao III Miyake Kisaburo

It is 2.8 inches (7.2 cm) tall and 2.2 inches (5.5cm) wide. The netsuke is 1.2 inches (3 cm) by 0.97 inch (2.5 cm) wide. It is 42.9 gram.

It is in good condition with no repairs except chips, peeling of lacquer and surface scratches (as seen in the photos).

Late 19th century Chinese seal carved out of lapis lazuli . Beautifully designed in a shape of a mountain, deep blue on one side with white streaks on the other, golden flecks on the sides. The bottom is carved with raised characters, traces of red seal paste in the grooves. Very beautiful piece appropriate for scholar’s table, pleasant matte surface. Height 1 1/2 inches, length 1 5/8 inches.

Late 19th century Chinese jade seal carved out of a jade boulder. True nephrite jade with russet original skin of the boulder, pleasant natural matte finish to the stone. The bottom is carved with raised characters that can be translated as STUDIO OF GREAT ELEGANCE, traces of red seal paste in the grooves. Wonderful austere piece appropriate for scholar’s table. Height 1 3/16 inches, length 1 1/2 inches.

This is natural indigo dyeing Shirusi-Hanten made at the beginning of the Meiji period. This gets texture and others by cotton and silk. As for this, cotton and silk are spun by hand. It is rare that Shirusi-Hanten is woven by cotton and silk. Most are only cotton. This has fading with several places of a few holes, but the state is good. This was sewed for a child again. Size 65cm x 103cm (25.5 "x40.5")

Chinese Song Dynasty black glazed Pottery Jar, 13th to 14th century, 3 1/2" high, 5" wide-widest part in the middle, 2 7/8" diameter-top rim, with dark brownish black glaze. The unglazed bottom section is rounded and smooth and has incised small marks and drawings-see photos. there are few frits on the bottom.

Four(4) pieces of Chinese Black glazed Pottery Artifacts, Song Dynasty, 13th to 14th century, taller vase-2 7/8" high, smaller jar-1 5/8" high, dish-3 1/8" diameter, 1" high, bead-2" long, 7/8" wide. Very small frits on taller vase, no other damages.

A stylized antique CHINESE BRONZE KIRIN-TURTLE with back hook. Bottom has Chinese Characters translating to: "May all you wish come to you". Height: 4" inches (~ 10 cm.)

Qing dynasty blue and white porcelain ink box with two compartments with key fret design around the lid. Size:L.10.3cm. W. 7.2cm. H. 4.2cm. Condition: No repairs. Normal wear around the edges.

A small bronze mirror of bulls eye form, 69mm in diameter 7.5mm in height with a rounded boss surrounded by a thin raised concentric ring to the centre with a raised edge and partial concave profile to the rim. This antique Mongolian belt evokes the image of Mongolian horseman galloping across the plains... The chain is heavily patinated from age and use. The deeply doomed central medallion retains the original stained dark finish and highlighted gold (unknown source) on the border and central decoration. This piece is heavy... the central medallion is 6+ inches across,3.5 inches wide, and 3+ inches deep.

A nice repousse silver box from Burma. A beautiful carving of a bust of a woman on the lid. A leaf design surrounding the body of the box. Size: H: 7cm. W. 7.7cm. Condition. Very fine. No repairs.

An ornate silver betel box with open-work patterns of curling tendrils. The body and lid each have five panels with high relief work depicting 10 different scenes of ancient Burma. The top of the domed lid has a lotus blossom. The bottom is hammered with the date and occasion for the piece.

An ivory snuff bottle in the form of of an attractive lady of status carrying a fan. The head can be removed to reveal the snuff. Probably Japanese work for the Chinese market at the end of the 19th century.

Approximately 9.2 cm high. In very good condition with only a little chipping to the back of the collar, noted in the photographs...

A Chinese white porcelain snuff bottle, probably Dehua, known in the West as ‘Blanc de Chine’. The moulded body, each side decorated with a central roundel of flowers surrounded with a pair of bats and a Shou character. The stopper, missing its spoon, appears to be faded purple stained soapstone. The thin body is very translucent and inside there are traces of former contents.

Approximately 5.8cm high. Perfect condition...

The ritual vessels, bian, are made from fine strips of woven bamboo, the inner surfaces completely covered in lacquer. The earliest illustration of this form is from a Song period reproduction of a Han dynasty publication...

19th century/Meiji period Japanese pottery kogo (box for incense during tea ceremony) in a form of a seated rooster. Wonderful potting with great facial expression and well delineated feathers, beautiful crackled glaze, red and black enamels. Bottom shows the seal of the potter. Wonderful piece in Japanese taste. Length 2 5/16 inches. Part of a small East Coast kogo collection.

Late Meiji Japanese good size ceramic suiteki (water dropper for diluting ink used in painting and calligraphy) that can also serve as a brushrest, modeled as a large and a small pine cones growing together. Clever design, holes on top of cones for filling and dispensing water, very nice depiction of cone texture, brown glaze with gold enamel over it, in excellent condition. Marked with potter’s stamp on the bottom, appears to read SHUNZAN, but I am not entirely sure...

The jardiniere is of globular form with three circular medallions enclosing birds and butterflies against a floral and gilt ground. These roundels are set against a scrolling lotus ground. A rather unusual glazed Chinese yixing tea pot. Traditionally, mixing tea posts are unglazed and this pot combines unglazed sections, such as the interior and the glazes that encompass the exterior side of the pot. The pot contains a seal on both the undersides of the lid and pot, of the maker attributing to Zhao Jingnan. Zhao Jingnan was a noted artist specializing in producing fixing and zhisha tea wares during the Qing Dynasty...

Chimu Painted Pre Columbian Textile, with whimsical figures of Warriors monkeys birds and Fish. Painted on a checkered cotton type textile in good condition . This would be wonderful framed , size 38" by 17.5".

Neolithic Peruvian Grey Stone Spear point, this came with a collection of Pre Columbian loose beads all from Peru so we assume this is also from there . It deserves a good home where someone knows what it is. 3" long 1.5" wide

This antique traditional Chinese pocket size opium scale comes in its original wooden case. Dating to the Qing Dynasty, the case contains all the original implements needed to weight gold and other precious metals and/or opium: a brass pan, a weight, and an ivory balance beam marked with 2 different weight calibration gauges. The wood case measures roughly 7 inches long and the ivory beam is 6 inches long.

A cast bronze cattle bell decorated with a kind of garland. Dating to the Eastern Javanese Period. For a similar bell please refer to: "Indo-Javanese Metalwork" by Linden-Museum Stuttgart, no. 205. Chinese hardwood altar table, made of solid elm wood with its original red lacquer finish. Carved with dramatic scrolling legs on elevated feet. Five panel carvings in front depict various scenes with auspicious elements, dragon carvings in archaic style, the underside with scalloped edges. The altar style edges curl upwards in a scrolling fashion, with reticulated carvings of dragons below either side.
