This 17th century carved polychrome wood head of Guan Yin (Goddess of Mercy) is 15 inches tall, 7 inches wide and 7 inches in depth. The solid teak wood base is 3 ¼ inches high, 9 inches wide and 8 ¾ inches in depth. This statue was part of the collection of a professor who spent over 20 years in China. Some of the color has come off and there is a long crack on the back of her head due to the age of this statue.

The two Chinese bamboo root carvings are about 12 inches tall, 5 inches wide and 4 inches thick. They came as a pair but can be displayed separately. They were carved in the late 19th century. Both depict wild geese. Their heads are turned toward a lotus and some unknown plants are behind them. The taller of the two is a little darker. Beside some small cracks and chips they are in fairly good condition.

A well carved hardwood figure of an emmaciated aescetic, probably depicting the Chinese Daoist Immortal Li Tieguai. This item was made in China, probably for export, during either the late 19th or early 20th century. Condition: there is a small old chip to one finger and an old age crack to the base; otherwise excellent. 27cm (10.5 inches} high.

The panel and frame were made during the reign of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908). The pair of early 20th century carved ivory emperor and empress snuff bottles are 2 ½ inches high, 7/8 inches wide and ½” thick. The emperor’s right hand holds a fan; his left hand carries a long staff. The empress’ right hand holds a flower; her left hand carries a round fan. The impressions on their faces are very well presented and their robes and hair pieces are nicely carved and colored. Aside from some worn pigment due to age, they are in really great shape.

This very well designed hand carved early 20th century Chinese ivory snuff bottle of a shape of a corn is 3 ½ inches high and 1 ½ inches wide from bottom. It depicts a beetle resting on an ear of a corn. It is in great condition.

This is a rare late Ming dynasty (1368~1615) carved bamboo statue. It depicts a bearded warrior on a horse. The rider¡¯s head is raised up, eyes wide open; his left arm is gently holding the bridle. Antique wooden carving of a Chinese Lohan, which in the Buddhist religion is a state of enlightenment right before becoming a Bodhisattva. He is shown making religious hand gestures called mudra, and wears a painted red robe. His back has a small hollowed compartment into which prayers would be placed. This early 20th century Chinese carved wood statue is 5" tall, 6 1/8" wide and 3 1/4" in depth. The statue presents the legendary Chinese character Liu Hai. This character is an eternally young boy who is always accompanied by a three legged toad. The statue presents a smiling Liu Hai seated comfortably on a rock with a whisk and straw hat on his back and the three legged toad resting on his right foot. Aside from a minor repair on his left toe, it is in great condition.

Beautiful antique Chinese snuff bottle carved all of dark agate. The stone is so smokey and dark it appears almost black but has lovely clouds of deep orange on one side. On the reverse side of the bottle, classic agate striations can be seen ranging from almost black to very thin areas of almost clear translucency. Large flatten-formed snuff bottle carved from translucent agate having various smoke-like inclusions ranging from dark brown to a light brownish-ochre. The two narrow sides are carved with a stylish mask motif with a pendant handle. A low, shallow carved foot forms the base. The stopper is a large cabochon of aventurine quartz. Few very small chips to the mouth edge from use and wear, otherwise very good condition.

Overall height: 3 ¼ inches; Width: 2 ¼ in.

This carved hardwood cup is 5” high, 4 ½” wide, 3 3/4” thick (both measured from the top). It is an early 20th century product. It depicts three sages surrounded by a river scene. Two sages and their young servant are on a boat; one sage is standing on the river bank. A huge rock, an old pine tree and some unknown trees make the scene very peaceful. Aside from a few small crack lines due to the age of the wood, it is in great condition.

Porcelain snuff bottle in underglaze blue and red. Yongzheng mark, but 19th century. H. 7 cm. Condition: the red parts have firing flaws.

This mid or late 19th century Chinese carved root sculpture is 25 inches tall (with base), 11 inches wide and 3 ½ inches deep. One side carved as a maple tree and rock, the other side retains the natural form of the roots. The fitted hard wood base depicts a pine tree surrounded with rocks. There have been a few minor repairs. It is in excellent condition.

This slender, attenuated brush pot (or possibly tool vase) of medium brown tone, displays a visible wood grain pattern on the exterior. The mouthrim and interior appear to retain the original surface. The base is worn fairly smooth from use. The exterior was probably refinished at a later time. The overall condition is very good with no repairs.

Chinese gilt lacquer wall carving, hand carved with whimsical scenes of court people. A gentleman is seen riding on the back of a Qilin while his advisor follows. One lady peeks her head from the window beside another lady arranging flowers. A small child is also shown arranging flowers. Possible a fragment from a bed. Dates from 18th/19th century.
