Antique Japanese painting of a Goju-no-to, five storied pagoda of the typical Japanese Buddhist temple. The pagoda is decorated using Kanji with a repeated sutra and other passages. Horin, the nine rings atop the pagoda are each a symbol. It measures 21.25" by 10.13". Some signs of age. Painted in sumi ink on paper. Meiji period 1868-1912.

This is a 19th century, excellently hand-carved Netsuke depicting a very surprised Rat Catcher, who is standing on one foot, while holding the tale of a rat that is crawling on his back. Another rat is crawling on the floor , near his foot. Outstanding detail and expression, as well as a two-tone patina. Unsigned. Netsuke measures 1.10 inches (2.8cm) wide, and 2.78 inches (7.1cm) tall.

Small serving dish of square, mokuzuke, of octagonal shape with two handles standing off the side. Thin light-colored stoneware covered with cream-colored glaze with fine crackle filled in the brown color from the foot to ¾ of the height. On top of the cream-colored glaze some iron-brown decorations of pine needle, plum blossom, cross hatch design and a mon-shaped design and a splash of green glaze with some blue in it. A choice and large Western Asian bronze sword dating to c. 2nd mill. BC. 'Luristan' Turkmenistan / Uzbekistan bronze age.

The sword with round shoulders and a prominent central midrib. The tang has a bend near the tip.

Size is 51 cm.

Condition: A choice sword with some encrustations. Vry slight edge roughness. Nice green bronze patina. Will improve much if cleaned properly.

This is a nice pair of tomb guardian, one piece in the form of a warrior and the other a mythical beast. The pair of tomb guardian is made of white earthen ware with copper green glaze. The green glazed is also nearer to the celadon glazed type. The clay, glaze and style suggest that the pair of tomb guardian suggest that this pair of tomb guardian straddles between the late Sui dynasty to the early Tang dynasty or about 7 century...

Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this wonderfully detailed funerary cone from a known tomb in the Theban Necropolis. This is cone number 576 from tomb number TT 295 for the scribe Paroy, also known as Djehutymose. The cone is wonderfully inscribed and detailed with clear glyphs. Djeyhutymose was a scribe under Thuthmosis IV or Amenhotep III during the New Kingdom in Egypt. The cone itself measures 3 1/8" in diameter and 2.5" deep...

18th century off-gray Chinese translucent jade plaque to be sawn onto clothes with pierced and carved design of the Three Friends of Winter - pine, prunus and bamboo - celebrated for the fact that they do not wither as the cold days deepen into the winter season unlike many other plants. One of a group of very large Ming Dynasty pottery horse riders.

The figure is of a military attendant, wearing a hat and carrying a sword on hiss side. He wears a green robe with yellow sleaves -Sancai colors. The unglazed areas are covered with white and black pigmented colors.

Note that the painting is very detailed and includes wonderful thick and perfectly rendered facial features.
