Late 1800s

This pale buff earthenware vase is painted with a fairly elaborate Moorish design derived from Middle Eastern ceramics. The front is tin glazed, and the back is largely unglazed, exposing the earthenware body. Two loop handles are attached to the shoulder for suspension. There is a small old chip to the lip of the opening. There are some small glaze skips from firing, and some old wear from use. No cracks or repairs.

Finely carved ivory Chinese napkin ring with 3 landscape carvings and an animal in each scene. Each is deeply carved, giving depth to the foliage. The 4th cartouche is left blank for monogramming. In excellent condition, it measures 1 1/8" high by 2" diameter. Circa 1900.

This tripod censer is raised on three animal-masked feet that support its large, rounded body. The rim is decorated with a key fret design, and the body has ten lappets composed of stylized mask and key fret designs all in low relief. It retains its original brown patina overall with a deep greenish gray interior from use. Good condition.

Finely enamelled to the exterior with fibrant famille rose enamels with medallions with birds, sitting on flowering twigs. Nineteenth century. Diameter : 21,8 H : 11,5 cm. Condition : Here and there some marginal wear to the enamels, the copper bodies of the jardinieres in perfect condition.

Exceptionally elegant red vermillion lacquered zen buddhist temple sutra table in its original signed and dated box. Dated Keio gannen 8 (c.1865) the tapered legs and metal fittings on the table top indicate this was made for a rich temple. 37cm tall and 53cm wide the very top is in its own cotton wrapping.
