Edo Period Musha-ningyo of Minister Takenouchi no Sukune and Attendant. Superb large-scale Edo period example (circa 1800) of Musha-ningyo warrior dolls for the Boy's Day display. Takenouchi is depicted kneeling and holding the baby Ojin in his arms. He has an unusually animated and well-rendered face, with fine gofun lacquer and painted features. This tubular shaped holder is partially hollowed on one end in order to receive a peacock feather decoration. The jade is a white tone with white mottling and a very slight hint of green when held to the light. It has a soft polish and even wear from use. Good condition.

This antique chinese hat would have been worn for festival by a Yi ethnic minority girl (woman) from the Honghe area. Worn for festival, the "cockssome cap" is elaborately decorated with faceted silver beads. Enlargement 5 shows cock hat as it would be worn. Hat comes with its own custom made stand.

Old kasuri (Japanese ikat) kimono worn on celebratory occasions. The fabric, which is woven with asa(hemp) and dyed in indigo (aizome), is coarse and stiff yet lustrous with an almost transparent look. The pattern is geometrical and pictorial; with flowering wisteria branches, stylized pines, Chinese style clouds, fans and phoenix-like birds. This 45-70 cartridge case was found with a metal detector by a friend of mine at the "Dull Knife Battle Site" fought in November, 1878 from the "Big Hole in the Wall" area in Wyoming.

This very well carved black and celadon jade (nephrite and jadeite) bead necklace is an early 20th century product. All the beads are well carved; it is quite possible this was a court necklace. After being restrung, it is a beautiful 31” long necklace now. It has 36 black beads and 4 celadon beads. The black beads are about 11/16” in diameter; the celadon beads are about 13/16” in diameter. The colors are very even and the carvings are superb...

Porcelain covered with green glaze to the foot, unglazed concave base. PERIOD : Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368 AD) MEASUREMENTS: 8 cm wide, 7.5 cm tall. CONDITION: a glaze frittings to the rim and no cracks, hairlines and free from restoration.

This is a small Ming dynasty longquan or celadon vase. The longquan vase stand on a short foot rim with a recessed base. The outer footrim is slightly shaved inward. From the footrim, it everted upward into a bulbous body and then narrow upward to a long thin neck with a slightly widen rim mouth. Longquan vase of such shape is harder to come by compared to the longquan/celadon plate or bowl.

This is a pair of glass bowls with saucers that are of a deep, even amethyst tone with high translucency. The pieces are molded, then turned, having highly polished interiors. The two bowls have well-carved pronounced footrings. The backs of the saucers retain the mold shapes, but with a glossy polish.

Saucers: Diameter: 5 ¾ in.

Dish decorated with floral and rock on the interior and continous floral scroll on the exterior, glazed base. PERIOD : Early Ming (1400-1487 AD) MEASUREMENTS: 19.5 cm wide. CONDITION: very good, no chips, cracks, hairlines and free from restorations.

This is a beautiful Japanese Porcelain Charger or shallow bowl. It just glows. The work is very similar to the work we have seen done by the Fukagawa or Koransha factory but it is not signed. Condition is excellent. There is a minor factory smear of gold on the front center. It can bee seen in the images. This might why the piece is not signed. It can bee seen in the images. The charger is 12 5/8 inches across and has deep sides making it 2 1/4 inches tall.
