Description:
A beautiful jadeite was well carved and in favored greenish tint.
It was preserved in perfect condition and was framed in best alloyed gold.

This is an authentic Nephrite jade carving of a mythical beast known as a Bixie, as those of you who collect in this area will recognize. The piece measures slightly less than 3-1/2" in length and is1-5/8" in height. The stone is a pale celadon in color, showing substantial alteration in the hindquarters. There is a minor loss at the tip of (one branch) of the tail. Fully carved, with fangs, snout and paws all clearly defined. A very dynamic carving, dating to the late Qing dynasty...

A Satsuma bowl decorated with a striking landscape that evokes the beauty and serenity of the Japanese hills, with a gently flowing river surrounded by trees and mountains. Late Qing Dynasty (1890s to 1911) embroidered Chinese textile rank badge (also called mandarin square) denoting the third civil rank symbolized by the bird on the badge - the Peacock. Designs on background include peach, pomegranate, fish, shell and bats in flight among clouds and above the fungus of Immortality over the waves. Keyfret borders with peach, pomegranate and Buddha’s hand citron motifs, colors slightly faded, newer black velvet backing. Size 9x9.5 inches.

A fine deep grey Saji river stone in the form of a miniature mountain landscape with high peaks and deep ravins; looking from the front and back sides there is a long passage in between the peaks, completely natural! The stone has a perfectly fitted rosewood base, daiza. Suiseki are highly appreciated for their aesthetic or decorative value in Japan but also by collectors in the western world...

Antique Chinese jade buffalo with wood stand. The buffalo is beautifully carved with incised details of hair on the head and around the eyes. circa 1900. It measures 4" wide 12" long 6" tall without stand.

This is truly a museum worthy piece from the great satsuma artist, Seikozan. It is probably our all time favorite example from this artist. This vase is the mate to another one we sold. Likely months of work went into this vase and it's literally smothered with intricate enamels and gold work. The vase stands 9 1/2 inches tall. This vase appears to be nearly perfect but it has had a rim chip repair.

This is an authentic nephrite pendant dating to the Qing dynasty. Two zoomorphic figures frame the central bi on this exceptionally well-carved object. The piece shows substantial alteration in the stone, which is of a grayish hue with a large darker area on one side. Height is 2-3/4" by 3-1/4" in width. Please examine the photos which accurately capture the color and carving quality.

Chinese ceramic Buddha, circa 1900-1930 (Qing – Early Republic). The iconography is quite unusual there is a seated Buddha image on the chest, standing Buddha image on the back, and another image of the Buddha in Parinirvana reclining pose. Overall a very intriguing piece, possibly meant for export to another Asian nation. Excellent original condition- no cracks, chips or frits. H: 15cm/6in and W: 9cm/3.5in.

An antique Japanese 2 panel Byobu screen of a mounted Kimono from a Noh play. Embroidered picture of flying Phoenix birds with Paulownia and scrolling vines they use to build a nest. The Kimono is that of a young female character of high aristocratic nobility wearing it as a surcoat in summer. The double Paulownia would represent a marriage as its theme. It is shown hanging on a Tazuna rope. The background is a silver leaf with a vermillion lacquer frame...

A wonderful original Japanese six panel byobu screen. Hand painted with natural mineral colors on gofun paper. Unusual low height for the full six panel length. Finely painted pheasant sitting central to the painting. A family of swallows swooping and dancing around in a playful fashion. Natural full wisteria branch rises up to create a perch for the pheasant.

Fun fact, pheasants are the national bird of Japan...

A nice Chinese export sancai famille verte porcelain statue of a Chinese scholar holding a scroll. Measures about 11 inches high. Base is 3" x 2.25". Circa 1900.

An antique Japanese Kansai merchant display store tansu made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. Constructed using through mortise and tenon Japanese joinery with horizontal side ribs for strength and support. Most likely used for the display of large tall items, a customized shelf could be added for an additional charge.
