The box is presented on a carved wood stand having several coats of cinnabar lacquer, giving it the appearance of a solid carved cinnabar stand. Large Chinese Ming dynasty wide-mouthed globular form guan jar with short, vertical collar-like neck and wide angled mouth covered overall in a dark brown/black crackled glaze that coats the interior and ends at the base. A thread relief moulded band of scrolling foliage decorates the upper section of the jar. A narrow floral band is above it. A very rarely offered complete polychrome pottery figural vessel, Aztec / triple alliance Empire, c. 1200-1500 AD.
Interesting vessel that is both anthropomorphic and zoomorphic. A bulbous vessel with the figure having small limbs and with a small head with facial tattoos, probably a chieftain or Shaman. He is sort of holding on to the jar backwards with his diminutive hands. On the side of the vessel a protruding Feline or Dog head.

This early 20th century carved ivory netsuke is 3” high, 1 ¼” wide and 1” thick from the top. It depicts a standing westerner carrying a child on his back with his right arm; his left hand is holding a peach. The artist signature “Okatu” is on the bottom of his robe. It is in great condition.

An armorer's (katshushi) tsuba by Miochin Munekane (signed.) Of smaller size associated with wakizashi. Engraved katakiri-bori flowers and vine decoration (six petals on vine, possibly clematis.) Artist line active between 1818 and 1887. Ex Robert Haynes collection. Good condition. A larger, sukashi tsuba at least by the same line, also signed Miochin Munekane, is in the Brooklyn Museum. 2 9/16 inches (6.5 cm) X 2 3/8 inches (6.1 cm) and 1/8 inch (.4 cm) thick.

Strand of Tuareg seed pod prayer beads from the region of Timbuktu, Mali. A talisman is added on with handmade cord and decorated with elephant hairs (from tail) and cowrie shells.
The original cord was broken long ago and a few seed pods are missing. The original cord has been left in place and I have added a second strand to keep the strand together.
