On lower levels of the rock formation sits Seitaka doji, holding his scarf in his left hand and a (now missing) club in his right, and stands Kongara doji, holding a lotus flower in his hands.

Late Qing Chinese red tixi cinnabar circular box decorated with alternating layers of red and black lacquer deeply carved to create intricate designs The box has a beautiful sheen to the surface so that the layers of lacquer simply pop. High quality and in excellent condition, it measures 3” diameter, and 1.5” high. Circa 1850.
Incredible Indo/Persian hand painted, oil on paper, manuscript page, depicting a courting maiden with attendant and suitor with calligraphy. Circa late 19th century period. Mounted in gold and black painted frame with matting. It measures approx. 10" height x 7 1/4" width. Condition is consistent with age.

A slight smile menpo in black lacquer, with angular high cheeks, making its naturalistic ears protrude outward. The L shaped strap holders are mounted on the dimples, the sleek shaped chin with turned strap post and a small hole to vent out perspiration. The interior of the mask is lacquered in red leather. Bronze incense burner with brown patina with shibuishi inlays. Composed of an enormous wave or a dragon also in shibuishi emerging from the waves holds the sacred pearl in its claws. The sphere cover grip represents a tengu also holding a sacred pearl in one paw. The base of the wave is decorated with small crabs and octopuses. Period: Meiji (1868-1912). Height: 51 cm.

Canton Famille rose / Rose Medallion urn lid with Foo dog handle, mid 19th century. Height (handle not included) "2½/ 6,5 cm. Outer diameter of the rim that has to fit into an urn or vase is "3½/ 8,8 cm. Condition: glaze chips around the lower edge of the decoration (cf pics).
Small round zushi consisting of two parts. The outside of both are covered in nashiji lacquer. On the inside of the one part in relief is carved in fine detail the image of Bishamonten holding a trident and a pagoda, subduing two demons. Inside the cover sits Benzaiten playing the biwa.
Bishamon and Benten are two of the seven gods of good fortune (shichifukujin), but they each hold a position in the Buddhist pantheon, as well.

This superb carved ivory page turner is an early 19th century product. On one side there is a very well carved garden scene and figures; a textured pattern covers the other side. It is 12 ¼” long, 1 5/8” wide and a little less than quarter of an inch thick (measured from the handle). It has a great patina. Aside from one hair line crack on the back, it is in excellent condition.
The motif of an elephant with a vase on its back has an auspicious meaning of "peaceful times (taiping youxiang 太平有象 - when there is peace, there are signs)". This motif was popular in Qing Dynasty, we date this one to 19th century. The elephant is in perfect condition. Length:9-1/2"; height: 9-1/2".
19th century netsuke representing theatrical mask of Shojo. Shojo are mythical creatures living near the sea, and are particularly fond of sake. Made in saishiki technique - the wood is covered with gesso, which in turn is painted in bright colors. Some obvious losses to paint from wear. Great modeling, wonderful depiction of its face and hair. Inscribed or signed on the back bar, but impossible to read because of paint losses . Height 1 1/2 inches.
