A Chinese mutton fat nephrite jade pendant or toggle of Budai measuring about 2 1/2" long and weighing 86g. While primarily white in color, the jade has a few random russet sections on the side and rear, and evinces under strong light a faint subtle green tint. There is a hole which is used to thread for wear. Unmarked.
A very rare cast iron fireplace tool set with caddy includes tongs, poker, and shovel. The caddy in enameled in black over a white primer, a clue to help dating of the set. A nicely detailed pierced Rococo Revival boat with exceptionally detailed swags, flowers, and cross hatching for a formal setting. The shape mimics a boat and may have once had a liner. Condition is very good with no material defects. Underside is marked Depose 800, which in normal circumstances might be French, but we believe that the crown and possibly crescent to its left indicates a German article, dating c. 1890-1910. The stockings are knit with three different weight cotton yarn the heaviest is the wonderful true blue that is the foot and ankle where all the wear is and the area where you want the most cushioning. A Russian icon, Theotokos of Kazan, also Our Lady of Kazan, depicts the Theotokos Mary with the Christ, produced in wood, tempura, silvered brass oklad with cloisonné enamels on the nimbus. A hand painted plaque is mounted below the image. Condition is excellent with one piece of missing enamel. This fine icon dates to the 19th C., most likely late.

A fancy ornate brass oval frame having trefoil cartouches with leaves and edged with beading encircle the mirror held up by easel stand whose stretcher is detached from the frame. However the stand is still most functional. The frame is a very elegant reminder of a lost craft.
