Set of 8 panels carved in a beautiful hardwood probably rosewood. They are very finely openworked with stylized dragons moving in scrolls. In the center a bone inlay. The cutouts as well as the details are very skilfully executed. Probably pieces of furniture. Probably china but perhaps vietnam. The largest panel measures 215mm. Bone inlays are missing.

A beautiful example of Shigaraki pottery—the result of techniques perfected over centuries by dedicated artisans residing in the provinces east of Kyoto. This piece achieves a kind of asymmetrical balance of both form and color, displaying classic Shigaraki markings of emerald green, red ochre, and pale ash.

The Shigaraki kilns in Shiga prefecture have been an active pottery centre since the Kamakura period (1185–1333) and continue to produce pottery up to the present day...

This is a large amulet with two holes for suspension and was most probably used as a chest piece (pectoral). The polish is so spectacularly well done that the piece feels as smooth as silk when held. The large central hole gently tapers on both sides. It measures a full 4" in length and is 2-1/2" in height. Roughly 1/8" thick. In color a varied green nephrite with a minimal residue of the polishing material remaining on the surface.

A Karatsu ware tea bowl with gold mending. It has simple paintings which is called E-karatsu. Karatsu ware has been produced in the east part of Saga Pref. and the north part of Nagasaki Pref. in Kyushu since late 16th century. Age is not clear. It is possible that is made by modern artist. However, kintsugi (mending by gold) is enjoyable. Diameter:15cm, Height:5cm

Antique Japanese bronze hiten (Sanskrit, apsara), celestial musician. Seated on swirling clouds, she moves her flute to her lips to play. Stylistically represented in the Indian or Southeast Asian traditional garb of bodhisattvas with high crown, elaborate pectoral jewelry and flowing drapery. The billowing clouds on which she sits have a green patina.

Age: Taisho period (early 20th century)

Pair of Japanese antique hibachis. Round in form and carved to appear as if made of woven basketry. Spilling over the rims and made to look as though bursting forth from holes in the baskets are plump clusters of grapes, vines and leaves. The "basket" portion of the hibachis is lacquered a deep red while vines and leaves are lacquer a dark green. The grapes a lacquered a deep red. There are metal inserts for coals and ashes...

Antique Japanese marquetry box. The front consists of 6 small drawers of various sizes, each intricately inlaid with tessellated hardwood patterns. The sides and top are covered with larger sections framing smaller marquetry pattern bursts that echo those on the drawers.

Japanese Meiji period wood suzuri-bako (portable calligraphy box) with three drawers to hold paper, ledgers, and essential writing accessories. The lid swings open by pushing a locking side button and reveals a narrow storage compartment to hold ink stones and brushes. In addition to the top carrying handle and drawer pulls, all the edges of the chest are reinforced and adorned with heavy original black iron hardware. Kuro Hirosawa (1772-1840) Shino ware Chawan for tea ceremony with appraisal box. The name "Kuro" is carved near the foot ring.

Kuro Hirosawa was a samurai of Nagoya clan and a potter in the late Edo period. He enjoyed the tea ceremony and made tea utensils of Ko-Seto, Shino, Karatsu style in his free time. His works have a unique appearance and often called Kuro ware.
