Monstrance (reliquary)in cast bronze and chiseled copper. Gilding quick-silver. Base weighted by lead. Disassembles into 2 parts. It has not been cleaned for a very long time, so the gilding appears orange under a layer of oxidation, smoke and dirt. The gilding is perfectly preserved. This is a tall and handsome classical pouch ewer from the Liao dynasty(907-1125). It is of museum quality standing on a splay foot rim with recessed base rising upwards to a slander bulging side body with a long vertical spout with straight mouth rim and a rounded pinched handle.
