A pair of Arita dishes moulded in so-called suhama form; a stylised interpretation of a wave washed beach often associated with the Isles of the Immortals. Painted in underglaze blue with a group of five auspicious karako, Chinese Boys, bound together with a ribbon or rope; symbols of joy and a wish for offspring. In addition a Chinese style Fan and a Double gourd are painted in iron red and gilt to complete the design...

A beautiful Tang dynasty changsa stoneware bowl with an abstract plant/weed motive, with long thin leaves all painted in green and iron brown colour. A very artistic, creative and free hand drawing in an abstarct form. The changsa bowl stand on a short footrim with a recess base. The glaze stop about three quarter way down, exposing the light pinkish buff clay. A must have piece for the discerning collector...

German Nymphenburg porcelain Soup Tureen and Cover, 13" wide with handle, and 9 1/2" diameter-top rim, 8 1/2" high, with applied three(3) dimensional Apple knob with branch of leaves, and molded Rococo style handles. Hand painted two(2) blue bouquet flowers in 2 or 3 different shades of blue, smaller bunch of flowers spread out in several areas, some are on top of the molded basket weave design borders...

Snuff bottle of flat circular form, the body itself made of ivory. The bottle has a silver neck with an intricate decoration affixing it to the body. It also has an opening at its center with round silver relief decor mount, the lid ending in a coral top. On one side, another relief decoration representing a four sided dorje with a loop for attachment to a belt. Tibet, 19th century. Diameter: 5 cm. Meiji period Japanese cloisonne vases. Silver wire teardrop form. Light beige ground with bird and flower design. Good condition. H: 7 inches

A pair of heavy Bristol wine glasses, peacock blue. Mouth blown and made around 1800 – 1810, the rim softly rounded. The pontil mark of one glass removed by grinding. Removal of the pontil mark was often done on lead “finer” glass (the lead allowed for cut designs). On the other glass the mark is deeper and so is still there, despite grinding. Height "4 ½ / 11.5 cm. Condition: fine.

A lovely tan ancient Egyptian Scarab, pre 300 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 9/16" long (14 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Japanese lacquer inro depicting a dragon partially hidden among clouds lacquered in relief. The outer surface is covered in lacquer with dark brown nuances, which offers an elegant contrast with the dragon's shimmering mother-of-pearl. Looking at the inside of the box you can see that there are two compartments. Small Buddhist shrine, or zushi, containing the figure of the Bodhisattva Kannon Nyoirin in six-armed form, sitting on a lotus base positioned on rocks. Kannon sits in position of royal ease, his head resting on his main right arm. In his other right hands he holds the wish-granting jewel (nyoi hoju) and a rosary of stringed beads. His main left hand rests on the lotus, while the others hold a script and a, now missing, lotus flower...

Interesting early Gable stamp seal of the Ubaid period and probably made in the later 5th. mill. BC.

The seal depicts an artful motif of two juxtaposed stylized animals with long legs.

From our Chinese Polychrome Collection, a very fine Rose Medallion punch bowl, mid-late 19th century, most likely late Daoguang to Tongzhi Period circa 1845-1874, and certainly no later than Guangxu Period (1875-1908)...

Decorated with a bird on a rock and flower panels. Diameter 14 cm. The footrims with attached oven sand, often seen on porcelain from this period. Wanli (1573-1619). Condition: one saucer with a hairline crack.
