An abstract sterling silver brooch by Modernist NYC Silversmith, Henry Steig. May be a stylized leaf or feather. Measures 2" long and 1" at the widest. Signed on the back Steig Sterling. Rollover safety clasp holds securely. There is an area along the darkened edge that is textured, not sure if that is original or wear. Nice contrast of polished and darkened sterling. Based on an original, almost impossible to find Margot de Taxco design, the repousse "swans-in-a-row" bracelet I am presenting here is wrought in fine, .980 silver and is a little masterpiece. This classic Art Deco ring is composed of two half-moons of carnelian flanking a vertical row of marcasites. The carnelian is secured by four split prongs, and there is an embossed scroll design along both sides of the shank that shows a bit of wear. The bottom part of the band exhibits a small applied piece of silver, most likely from sizing. The inside of the band is marked sterling. The oval top of the ring measures about 3/4 inch by 5/8 inch. It is sized at a 4 1/4.

Decorated with applied wirework rosettes, this hoop necklace has an Asian feel, but sports Austrian import marks (hard to see in the photo). It is continuous, and doesn’t appear to have ever had a clasp. The necklace has a nice weight and a dramatic, contemporary look. An antique pin with a modern vibe. This charming Arts & Crafts is made of sterling silver that has been enameled in artfully shaded blue to chartreuse to look like the wings of a stylized moth. A mother-of-pearl oval centers the body, and there is a small faceted green 'stone' (possibly glass) at the head. The pin is 1 ½ by 3/4 inches in size, not including the small spherical dropper which is enameled in a rich blue. The pin is circa 1900.

The cuboids or rectangular blocks bear impressed, oxidized linear patterns on all sides, giving the piece a sense of depth. Circa 1940's, here is a superb pin produced by Chato Castillo. Chato Castillo apprenticed with Matilde Poulat. In the Davis/Pack book "Mexican Jewelry", it's noted that Chato's pieces are all one of a kind. He left William Spratling's Taller de Las Delicias in 1939 to help his brothers start Los Castillo. A vintage modernist sterling silver textured pendant with a contrasting polished surface by the well known Danish silversmith Jane Wiberg.

Twin fish necklace in amethyst and brass signed MAYA MEXICO after a design first introduced by Hubert Harmon (c.1940-50). This necklace will comfortably fit up to a 15 inch neck. The two fish and amethyst drop measure 5 1/2 inches across. Both fish have an amethyst eye and a faceted amethyst stone extending from their tail. A single amethyst cab hangs between the 2 fish. Each brass chain measures 5 1/2 inches.
