Vintage hazy focus, colorized photo of coastal Santa Monica, looking north and west towards Malibu, 11 1/2" by 9 5/8" as framed in pleasing Southwest style design wood frame. The son of a workman, Laurens trained at an early age in a decoration studio, where he modeled period-style ornaments and drew architectural designs. Afterwards Henri Laurens worked on building sites and scaffolding, where he learnt the hands-on side of hewing stone...

This very well carved agate contemporary snuff bottle is almost 3 ½” high, 1 ¾” on the widest part and 1 1/8” thick. It is carved as “Hu” shape with two loose rings on each side. The darker color of the agate was carved into the character “SHOU” (Long Life) and makes the snuff bottle interesting. It is well hollowed, polished and in great condition.

This sweet genre painting of a shepherdess with her flock reflects the theme of the child-of-nature, a sensibility embraced by Victorians during the 19th century. The figure’s youth and comely face convey innocence, while her steadfast pose next to the goldenrod suggests that she is at ease in her environment.

The painting is signed at lower right by the Who Was Who in American Art-listed JOSEPH LANE (1900-), an artist and muralist who trained at the Art Institute of Chicago...

Original etching by Wendell Black (USA, 1919-1972), started in 1961. Black was still working on this etching when he passed away 18 years later. First edition artist proof, posthumously printed by Berkley Chappell. No lifetime edition exists. Signed and dated "Wendell Black 61 by Elaine" l.r. Elaine was Wendell Black's wife. 24" by 35" image alone. Plate 27 in "The Lost Works of Wendell H. Black" by Henry M. Sayre.

Oil on canvas, 16" by 20", unframed, signed at lower right in red "SOON" and with artist's device, signed there "86", the subject a thatched roof village fronting low mountains, clothes hanging to dry in the breeze. This appear to be most likely Korean art, perhaps by a Korean-American, considering the American size stretcher. The name is common in Korea but I don't believe the artist is well known. The work is highly impressionistic and with a frame this will look even better...
