This is a rustic brushpot a farmer in rural Hubei carved this out of a tree trunk. He spotted the branch at the right and decided not to trim it Hence this pot has a handle. Its skin is old and patinated. It is a charming pot. It dates from the 19th century.

A Chinese Jizhou conical bowl decorated on the inside with a pattern of six paper cut prunis blossoms reserved in a dark brown glaze on top of a lighter brown glaze thinning to the lighter brown glaze at the rim. The reverse in the same glaze with the base left bare revealing the buff coloured body.

I believe that this was done with the lost wax method.

A pair of Japanese vintage bronze temple lantern. Each lantern is made of 3 sections, the base, the light housing and the crown. The crown has a scalloped rim with heart shaped designs and a beautiful finial.
