This jade (nephrite) carving is a mid-20th century product. It is 3” high, 2 ¼” wide (measured from the widest part) and 1” thick. It depicts a playful monkey climbing on top of two pomegranates; a small RuYi (如意) scepter with LingZhi (靈芝) ends rests on the back of the carving. It is in great condition.

This charming beaded purse is from Bamiyan, Afghanistan and measures 12 x 23.5 cm when opened, 10 x 12.5 cm when closed. Satin stitch, cross stitch and filling stitch in silk thread, depicting stylized floral motifs in vibrant colors. This textile is typical of Hazara embroidery in its dynamic use of color. The outer edges are embellished with pompoms and blue and orange beads, while the inside features Bokhara couching laced with gold thread (zardozi)...

Small oval carved jadeite pendant. Impressed carving of bat on raised side, other side is flat. Very smooth and pretty color of white with deep green specks. Two carved out holes, one towards top modeling a gold loop, and another in middle of oval.

The solid 14K yellow gold is finely crafted in three bats and three prunus flowers on each sides in the 20th Century, marked “14K.” The old Qing Dynasty jadeite is from the 19th Century, hand-crafted in the Ruyi shape, the front crafted with four traditional Chinese character meaning “longevity with wealth and honor”, the reverse crafted with a deer or a dragon-like mythical beast.
It would be a great gift full of blessing.

A large Buddhist scroll painting of the Amitabha triad where Amitabha is attended by Avalokitesvara and Mahasthamaprapta. The bodhisattvas are adorned with elaborate accessories often seen in images of bodhisattvas. Chinese Blanc de Chine Quan Yin seated on a resting elephant. Quan Yin, goddess of great compassion, is holding 2 lotus flowers, one of which is broken symbolizing a broken spirit. She is holding both pieces of the stem in her hand. The lotus symbolizes purity, spiritual enlightenment, and in this case, new beginnings or rebirth. Excellent detailing and in excellent condition, it dates end of 2nd quarter 20th century. Measures 7.5ʺ wide × 4.5ʺ deep × 12ʺ high.

A fairly large Korean style Buddhist painting portraying the image of the Water Moon Avalokitesvara or Suwol Gwaneum in Korean. The Avalokitesvara is dressed in vestments and accessories common to the figure of a Bodhisattva and has the water vessel which offers blessings to all sentient beings. The bodhisattva is attended by a boy figure known as shan nanzi who often seen in pictorial and textual depictions in East Asian Buddhism. Age: 20th century. Size: height 105.5" width 53"

This agate pendant is 2 ¼” long, 1 ½” wide and 7/8” thick. It is a mid-20th century product. It depicts a small monkey sitting on the top of a large double gourd surrounded by two small lucky bats, some unknown flowers and a smaller gourd. It is in great condition.

This hand made, gold plated over silver, multiple stone bracelet is 7” long and 5/8” wide. It contains six semi-precious gem stones, including jade, ruby and moon stone which are surrounded by a tiny, wired flower design. The workmanship is elegant and superb. Like Item 3359, it came from a retired Hong Kong jeweler. It is 1930~1945 product and is in excellent condition. The back has a woven pattern.

Bashofu kimono hand-woven of ito-basho, which is a family of banana tree, for both wefts and warps. The brown stripe yarn
and warp kasuri yarn are dyed with Sharinbai, a family of the rose tree. The small weft kasri yarn is dyed with Ryukyu ai, vegetable indigo in Okinawa. Bashofu has been woven in many islands in Okinawa from old days, for everyday kimono or work wear. The first half of the 20th century. W:114cm, L:132cm

From our Japanese Collection, a fine and very attractive mid-century silk thread composition depicting a Shinto shrine nestled within a treed riverbank, with a foot-bridge and boats in the foreground. The composition uses rich but tasteful shades of burgundy, brown, cream, dark green, a touch of soft pink, and other subtle earth tones. The piece evokes a relaxed charm.

This Japanese doll looks like a woman from Ukiyo-e (pictures of the "floating world") wood block prints. She is sensual and inviting; posing to fix her hair with a hair pin. To do so, she would need to tilt her head sideways and gently pull out the hair pin so she wll not make a mess of the hairdo. The process takes delicate movement of the fingers and is also a chance to show off the area behind her neck which is considered to be the most sensual place to show for a women wearing a kimono...
