Pair of Korean black lacquer over brass vases with mother-of-pearl inlay. The brass is re-purposed from unused artillery shells and the vases are heavier than one would expect. One of the rim looks a little irregular, but the were purchased in Japan, as is, in the first half of the 20th Century. They measure about 7 inches high.

Lovely Korean brass footed box with handle. This box is engraved with 2 deer on the front, a turtle on each side, and double happiness symbol on lid. There is a fish lock (no key) and the box opens to reveal a removable tray. In very good condition, the only issue is the seam on the lid right corner has slightly separated. Dating first half 20th century, it measures 6" long, about 4" high, and a little over 3.5" deep.

A Stromberg-Carlson Model 1243 desk telephone from around 1940. This stylish, heavy black painted metal phone is 8" deep and 5-1/2" wide with a 9-1/4" long hand piece. This embroidered shirt panel is typical of the traditional embroidery of Kandahar ("khamak") in its limited range of colors and its depiction of geometric motifs of traditional Islamic art. Silk thread in extremely delicate satin stitch in counted-thread technique on a fine silk background which has been stitched to a cotton linen. It measures 38 x 43.5 cm and is dated to the early 20th century. Condition excellent, only two inconspicuous stains on one side.

A glass bead decorated gourd from the Maasai people in Kenya. This type of gourd is used traditionally for the mixture of milk and blood that is a staple of the Maasai diet. Early 20th century.

Approximately 24 cm long. In fine condition. Noted are half a dozen insect holes in the lid, these are old and mostly filled in. Please note that the stand is not included with this item.

Ancient mask of oval flat form, with protruding forehead and nose, slit eyes, small open rectangular mouth showing teeth. Only one large hole on each side to attach the mask, and smaller holes around the mask probably to represent hair and beard. Wood, with remnants of kaolin colouring. Africa, Gabon, Fang ethnic group. Height: 32 cm. The mask is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Tiny accidents, otherwise very good condition.
