Box in black lacquered wood inlaid with mother-of-pearl, golden details. The decor is composed of birds among plants and shrubs. The birds are very active, the one in the center tends to what appears to be a stylized egg in a nest? Probably a meaning. The designs are simple but harmonious and very elegant. The inlay work is empirical but the materials used are solide and they have stood the test of time well indeed the lacquer has not peeled off and the mother-of-pearl is still well maintained...

This exceptional wood carving of a Santos was made during the early 19th C. and was executed with bold strokes with great impressiveness. The central figure is giving the sign of Christ while holding a black object - perhaps a globe - in his other hand. He is clothed with a coral colored cape, buff tunic, and black boots with gold outlining. Standing atop a sphere, he is surrounded by an oval frame - underscoring the deep relief of the carving. This extraordinary wood carving is a figure of Santo Nino enveloped in an oval cartouche with swirling flourishes above and below. Nino is robed in dramatic array as she holds a globe in one while giving the sign of Christ in the other. The drapery and decoration of it is exceptional as is the rich relief carving.

Dimension; 16.5" x 6" x 13" high to handle; total weight approximately 17.5 pounds; bottles approximately 4.4 pounds each. Slight chips on the base of stoppers and on edge of one bottle; Not noticeable. Also two of the brass corners at the base are split (see picture).
A George III Regency Period Satinwood Inlaid Mahogany Tea Caddy. Sarcophagus Form with Brass Rings on the Side and Top; the Top Ring with a Brass Fruit Basket design. It Stands on Four Brass Bun Feet, with dimensions of 11.5" wide x 5.25" deep x 6.5" high. There are Two Lidded Inserts Over the Inside Tea Compartments and a Mixing Bowl that is not believed to be original. Wonderful lacquered box from Russia's Imperial era. The lid has a handpainted summer troika scene. Scenes depicting troikas in the snow are a bit more common. The design is very colorful and the facial detail on the three people is very nice. The lid is signed "E. Gustov" (translated). The box is lacquered red inside.

Really nice early pantry box with a label on the lid and on the front. Both labels read Raisins and it written in nice old sepia ink. The box in in fine crisp condition with nice old patina, mellow honey brown color and hand made nails. The box has a Shaker quality to it but the world made these boxes also so I can't say for sure that it is. It is 8 1/4" across the top and 4 1/4" tall and is circa 1830-40.

A very fine Imperial Russian lacquer box by Vishniakov.
