This set of 10 porcelain cups and saucers and one covered bowl was produced in Europe by an unknown manufacturer in the 19th century. They have a mark we do not recognize. They may have been a special order for a wealthy client. The saucers are 5 ¾ inches in diameter. The cups are 3 ½ inches high at the handle, with a diameter of 3 5/8 inch diameter. This amethyst ring is a striking example of gold-work decoration that became popular in the second decade of the 19th century. A type of filigree work known as "cannetile" and named for the gold embroideries of the Napoleonic years, cannetile work made the most of a small amount of gold and required highly skilled goldsmiths.
