Attractive Djet pillar amulet in green faience, late period, c. 7th.-3rd. century BC.

Size: 23-24 mm. tall.

Condition: Very fine, Intact but with hairline repair at the middle.

Provenance: Formerly in the private collection of Eberhard Hanfstaengl (1886-1973). He was a famous German Art director and head of the Berlin National Gallery as well as other higher positions. Educated as Art Historian. Comes with COA.

Ram's horn on bottom upon which a rearing ureas cobra is perched, with gaps probably originally containing inlays, crowned with the solar disc; the cobra flanks a large, curling ostrich plume with multiple horizontal incised lines. Rare fragment of a large faience sistrum. The fragment is the upper part of a large faience sistrum with two hawks above side by side bearing the sun disk. It is seldom to find a sistrum which is surmounted with gods or sacred animals. A sistrum with a similar upper part is in the Eaton College Myer Collection (ECM1693), see last picture.

Large head of Serapis shown with a fulsome beard and fringed hairdo over the forehead. On the crown a closed modius decorated with an olive branch.
The face with a small nose and flat eye cavities with thin eyelids. The mouth enclosed by a stringy moustache.
Modeled in the round. Two-piece mold with cursory back side. Remains of the original gesso layer in the cavities. Nice Hellenistic style.

Extremely rare shabti of the Prince Hor-Nakht.

Prince Hor-Nakht was a son of Pharao Osorkon II, who ruled Egypt from Tanis in the 22nd Dynasty. Osorkon II
tried to control the entire country so he appointed his son Hor-Nakht as High Priest of Amun of Thebes.
Unfortunately, Hor-Nakht died already at the age of nine. He was buried in the same tomb as his father in the
royal necropolis in Tanis (Hor-Nakht was placed in the same Chamber as his father Osorkon II)...
