Throughout Chinese history, the Phoenix has been associated with the female principle and, most importantly, with the Empress. This large, reticulated bronze plaque retains excellent detailing and significant amounts of its original gilding. It measures just under 4" in height and slightly more than 4" in width. A fantastic Chinese silver caddy of hexagonal shape, applied with a profusion of enameled birds perched on foliage and flowers, all against a filigree ground . Studs of turquoise and coral further enhance the opulence of this extravaganza. Stamped SILVER on the base. Very rare antique Chinese 17th century,Ming dynasty, small hand warmer with cover signed by Zhang Mingqi (張鳴崎). Made of copper alloy in the oval cushion form, set with a conforming swing handle, the slightly domed cover cast is finely hand pierced with an intricate pattern(trelliswork) with a surface patinated to a warm honey-brown tone.

The flat base is incised with the maker's mark, Zhang Mingqi, in Zhuanshu script as a square seal...
