This Chinese vase comes from Canton from the end of the 19th century or perhaps the
first few years of the 20th century. The shape is termed onion neck for obvious
reasons and derives from Delft forms made in Holland in the 17th century.
The bright overglaze enamel colors are typical of export wares of the era
and the subject matter of boys with balloons containing characters
meaning "prosperity" and "good luck".

Blue and white tea bowl with scalloped rim and pagoda decoration, Qianlong c 1760-80. Interestingly, the Chinese decorator has made an abrupt cut in the mountainous landscape scene (cf. picture 3) so as to give an impression of a printed pattern, the way it is sometimes seen on early English - competitive - transferware where this of course always was a mistake due to this new technology. Unusual.

A large and beautifully potted blue and white ginger jar. It is a scene of a dragon and phoenix chasing after the "Pearl of Fire" between heaven above and the sea below. A beautifully decorated famille rose/verte hexagon shaped tazza with 5 different brightly coloured gold fish swimming in a hexagon shaped pond surrounded by water lilies, lotus and water plants. The underside of the tazza is decorated with iron red bamboo leave. The base of the tazza bears the four-character minyao reign mark of Tongzhi (1862-1874) and of the Qing Dynasty period.

This is a brightly decorated and colourful famille rose medium size bowl. On top of the bowl, the rim is surround by a series of small blue colour enamelled ruyi head. At the bottom, it is surrounded by upright blue colour lappets in rectangular design.
