These tall, slender offering jars with lids are well-potted and molded with dignitaries, dragons and horses, and covered with a thin bluish-toned clear glaze. The bluish areas are apparent where the glaze has pooled around the molded figures. The lids are likewise glazed and finished with a simple stylized swirl of clay. One of a group of very large Ming Dynasty pottery horse riders.

The figure is of a military attendant, wearing a hat and carrying a book or a map under his arm. He wears a blue robe with turqoise sleaves. The unglazed areas are covered with white and black pigmented colors.

Note that the painting is very detailed and includes wonderful gthick and perfectly rendered facial features.

Rare Chinese Neolithic Pottery Jar - Siwa Culture (c. 1350 BC)

This pottery jar was made by peoples of the Siwa culture (c. 1350 BC), one of the later Chinese Neolithic cultures, overlapping the Bronze Age. It is of a slightly differing shape to most know similar examples in that it has a wider base and, therefore, wider lower body. It is fairly heavily-potted and has been fired to an attractive orange-red colour...

With an unusual dark blue and turquoise glaze. The woman with an unusual hairdo. H. 34 cm (the man), 31 cm (the woman). Condition: no damage or repair. parts of the soil can easily be removed to obtain a more colorful glaze.

Magnificent pottery Ding. The long legs and “cockscomb” design where, the legs join the body, are in keeping with bronze vessels from the Zhou to Warring States period, which pottery pieces were trying to emulate. There are traces of a repetitive meandering impressed band below mid circumference. The body is thinly potted with very light gray clay and originally had a dark gray slip applied to the outside (the original gray slip is still intact in the cavity)...

This elegant looking yingqing incense burner, from the late Song dynasty, is round in shape at the top like a ball with a double fluted flange as the supporting base. The cover is a semi-circle with intricately designed holes for the incense smoke to pass through.

There are some small manufacturing defects as seen in photograph 5...
