The wood statue Shou Xing (longevity) is carved from a part of a tree joint and it is quite heavy. He is holding a staff and a peach. The statue is 11 ½ inches tall, 2 ¾ inches thick and 5 inches on the widest part. It is late 19th century piece. The carving is simple but elegant. Carved wooden cup representing large lotus leaves and buds on which evolve a crab and a shrimp. The feet are made up of snails. Although the carving work is of excellent quality, the wood used is not purple sandalwood. Part of the edge has been broken as shown in the photo, but this does not affect the aesthetics of the object. In addition, restoration work is possible with a perfect result. Carved hardwood box. The wood appears to be Huang-Hualy. The decoration is sculpted in relief with a peach tree in a stylized vase, the tree bears foliage and 5 peaches. The stylized vase is composed of a filiform dragon whose head can be seen from the front. The box opens with a lid pierced with 2 holes to receive a retaining wire, so you could open the lid by making it sink without losing it. Chinese work. This tall bamboo incense holder is elaborately carved with a bird attacking a snake. The birds wings are out-stretched and spread around the container and the bird is being cheered on by a much smaller rooster. The carving is deep and detailed.

The holder is 12 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter and has a deep mahogany brown patina.

A rare Ming wooden statue of the Daoist God of War, seated with one foot on a turtle, for immortality,and one on a snake, for supernatural power. Massive Chinese late Qing dynasty finely carved root wood figural group mounted on a tripod root wood stand featuring a central bearded immortal in a dancing or running pose flanked by two attendants. The immortal holds a gourd in one hand and an unidentified object with an animal head in the other hand.
