This mid or late 19th century Chinese carved root sculpture is 25 inches tall (with base), 11 inches wide and 3 ½ inches deep. One side carved as a maple tree and rock, the other side retains the natural form of the roots. The fitted hard wood base depicts a pine tree surrounded with rocks. There have been a few minor repairs. It is in excellent condition.

This slender, attenuated brush pot (or possibly tool vase) of medium brown tone, displays a visible wood grain pattern on the exterior. The mouthrim and interior appear to retain the original surface. The base is worn fairly smooth from use. The exterior was probably refinished at a later time. The overall condition is very good with no repairs.

A very finely carved hardwood ox or buffalo, surmounted by a young boy, on original stand, probably made for export during the second half of the 19th Century circa 1850-1900 . Condition - excellent - one glass eye of the boy is missing but, unusually, there is no damage at all to the sculpture and there has been no restoration. Chinese gilt lacquer wall carving, hand carved with whimsical scenes of court people. A gentleman is seen riding on the back of a Qilin while his advisor follows. One lady peeks her head from the window beside another lady arranging flowers. A small child is also shown arranging flowers. Possible a fragment from a bed. Dates from 18th/19th century.

A small hardwood carving of lotus leaves with small frogs and fish set between the curled and the underside sections of the leaves. This brush pot displays shallow carving with incising utilizing the natural “skin” of the bamboo to depict a scene of tortoise, cranes, and pine as a wish for longevity. The carver's name is incised beneath the pine tree. It is in good condition and has a nice patina. There is some wear to the interior from use. Acquired in London in the mid 1980s.
