The style of glazes is reminiscent of the expressions seen Japanese earthenwares of Seto, Tanba, or Kyoto. The work contains a signature-like inscription on the bottom which reads, Sanshun. Urn-shaped earthenware vase with decoration of a lady and a boy dancing. Subtle crackle-glaze in shades of peach and pink, with gilt and white moriage (slip) articulations on an olive-green background. Unmarked, but with Japanese handwriting on sticker. Late 19th to early 20th century Japanese ceramic brush pot made in raku technique with rich multicolored glaze and an unglazed sector with stylized painting of autumn grasses. Beautifully made, awesome colors produced by raku process. Signed in gold lacquer with 2 characters on the back reading GERAKU. There appear to be characters incised into the body on the bottom, but I am not entirely sure. Unusual piece, pleasant to handle. Height 5 inches, maximum diameter at the top 4 5/8 inches.

This Japanese lidded cloisonne pot is referred to as Totai Cloisonne. The base material of the cloisonne decoration is ceramic and not the usual metal. Various cloisons which are adhered to the ceramic surface are filled with a variety of coloured enamel as is the case with cloisonne on metal. The pot is in good condition with an overall floral decoration. The internal lip of the lid has a small flake.

Sparsely painted with airy flower sprigs, leaving large parts of the cream-coloured crackle-glazed surface undecorated. The mouth rim with the mon (emblem) of the Itagaki (?) family. This is a wonderful Meiji Era Satsuma tray from Seikozan. The detail is outstanding but the condition is even better. The condition of this piece is pristine and like new or the day it left the workshop. In fact, this piece is the finest preserved example of Meiji era Satsuma we have ever had. Ironically, we found a small factory repair to one of the corners. We ran tests and it is absolutely a gold covered Seikozan factory repair (See last image).
