He is depicted here in anthropomorphic form, with human body but with wings, beak and and legs of an eagle-like sun bird. Garuda is the personification of courage and the enemy of naga, the serpent.

Early 19th C bronze Southeast Asian betel nut cutter in the anthropomorphic form of Garuda, a bird-like creature in Hindu, Buddhist and Jain mythology. Garuda is believed to be a powerful ever watchful protector with the ability to swiftly go anywhere. The blade is slightly bent from years of use, otherwise in very good condition, this cutter measures 6" long, 5" high, and 1.75 inches across the wings.
