An Ancient wooden casket for Buddhist ritual implements lacquered black and decorated with lotus flowers in silver and gold on scrolling vines with an inscription beneath stating it was donated in the New Year of Kenmu 2 (1334). The lacquer, originally black, has oxidized to a mellow chocolate color. It is 33.5 x 18.5 x 13 cm (13 x 7-1/2 x 5 inches). A wonderful ethnographic folk art object, this style of farm animal bell has been used in Thailand for centuries. Hand carved from wood by the herder and tied around the animals neck this traditional bell is hinged (or pegged) in 2 places to allow for a gentle knocking sound. This one was used for a goat and has remnants of the original hand made rope.

This vintage, handmade piece was designed by William Spratling in his earliest years in Taxco, Mexico. The tray measures 15" from handle to handle X 11 1/2". The wood is hand decorated with carvings of flowers and stars. The tin frame is also decorated with a design that is repeated along the interior of the wood. The tray is in beautiful condition with minor surface wear. One tiny nail head is missing along the frame but it doesn't affect stability.

This is a Song dynasty (960 – 1276 A.D.) Henan splashed bowl in Russet brown colour. It is conical in shape with a flared rim, supported on a very short foot. The centre of the bowl is covered with lustrous black glaze with splashed brown streak radiating from the centre.
