Face coverings were worn for centuries by the women of various nomadic tribal groups of North Africa and the Middle East. This face cover is from the nomadic Harb tribe of Hijaz region of Saudi Arabia. It was purchased by a collector living in the region during the 1960's.

Description: A white jade pendant was carved as two fishes chasing a pearl. In simple and well-executed lines, the fishes were adorned with star patterns. The jade was in pale white and some yellowish tint. Whitish incursions were in dots on the surface. The jade in the pictures looks the same as we see in real. A large square pottery tile decorated in the "cuerda seca" technique. Yellow, manganese, green and turquoise on a bicolor ground of cobalt blue and white, depicting a lotus and saz leaves. Condition: few small glaze flakes, frittings. Dimension: 25.4 cm x 26.3 cm x 2.8 cm. Without wooden stand.

This small oil lamp has a floral motif cloisonne base and glass globe. An artifact of the Qing dynasty, this style lamp was often referred to as an opium lamp, presummably because of their use in the opium dens of that period.

At 3.5 inches high, it is in good condition with no dents and no losses.
