This child's headpiece was from a very high status, wealthy Chinese family. Basically made of 3 pieces of shaped and intricately carved leather, it was made "adjustable". Heavily decorated with additional carved elements, dragons, beads and pompoms, it still has most of the original gold paint. This is a rare treasure. approx 6" x 3.5"

A lacquered and iron bound round lidded box called a kubi-oke made to carry the head of a man taken in battle or that of a man after committing ritual suicide for offering to the lord. It is 13 inches (33 cm) diameter, 11-1/2 inches (29 cm) tall with large handles from which it could be carried on a pole. There is mouse damage on one part of the bottom, but has not eaten through to the inside.

Chinese Qing dynasty natural root form scholar’s bitong, or brushpot. 7 1/2” high. The base measures about 6” diameter at the longest part. The rim is about 4 5/8” across at the widest part.
