An extremely rare example of large b/w bowl, the exterior decorated with eight ruyi windows each filled by crane on flight among cloud scrolls, alike decoration to interior center with pair of cranes within double circle. Six character mark 'Da Ming Jia Jing Nien Zhe' on base and of the period. Condition damaged with missing part to rim and several hairlines, ex. riveted mark to exterior of the body. A Blue and white large dish decorated with chrysantemum, plan and around the flattened edge with scrolling flower. Width = 36 cm. Kangxi (1662-1722). Condition : very good with one hairline and two small chips (see enlargement).

A stunning painting of Mt Fuji viewed from a misty sea by Yukansai (Kano Arinobu, 1605-1677) painted in 1672 at the age of 67 on silk. The image of Fuji, broken by clouds, dominates the scene, with rolling hills and sailing vessels visible in the foreground. It is mounted in a field of copper brocade extended above and below in beige silk and measures 26 by 49 inches.

This is a nice small sancai glazed tazza cup from the Tang dynasty ((618 – 906 A.D.). The tazza is decorated with small round spots of flower like pattern with three cream spots and a brown dash in the centre. The background is glazed in green colour. The glaze on the outside of the tazza flows just below the cup, exposing the buff colour of the stem and the spread out foot.

There is no repair or restoration, crack, chip or glaze fritting. Some abrasions can be expected...

This fine junyao stoneware jar was made during the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) and was excavated in the 1990s, or earlier, from Inner Mongolia. Remains of ancient plant growth/roots still adhere to the inner ring of the unglazed foot. It has straight walls that taper in very slightly at the mouth, and stands on a heavy foot...

The origin of this antique velvet ikat is not obvious. Some authors describe it of Persian, others of Central Asian origin. Striped fabric lining. Cf. Chinese Western Han Dynasty Painted Pottery Head (206 BC - AD 8)

This fine pottery head was made during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). It has been "cold painted" in a base coat of white pigment on top of which have been painted pink, red and black pigments to pick out the facial details.

A fabulous large porcelain vase by Daimaru Hoppo (Hokuho) enclosed in the original signed and compartmentalized wooden box complete with a rosewood base. The vase is a perfect example of the Sinophile aesthetic that permeated Japanese art in the early 20th century.
