A Chinese man would have worn this egg shaped wooden tobacco container hanging from his belt. Both front and back are decorated with metal studs and fitting attached with copper nails. The lid is hinged and held in place by a decorative pin which is pulled up to open.

Description: A white-glazed tea caddy was rarely found with an original cap. Preserved in a very good condition, the capped jar was in plain form without any decoration. Firing effect was obviously revealed in the body clay. It is a fine piece for the storage of some fine tea or a decent vase-like jar on the shelf too. A pimpled toad looks to the sky exhaling a clouded spirit, a truly superb version of this theme in deep caramel bronze dating from the Meiji period. It is an interesting theme, the ugly creature elevated to the status of saint. Judging by color and quality, we attribute this as the work of Kanaya Gorosaburo (1836-1890), a bronze artist of Kyoto fond of this color and known for his superb modeling and detail. Not always signed, Gorosabutro was often known to sign only the box...

A white jade of two frolicking animals "kissing" muzzle-to-muzzle. The smaller animal has a little curly tail while the larger one has a long tail going up against its back with a curl at the tip. An antique cast bronze waniguchi bell or gong, the type used to hang in front of places of prayer and under temple eaves dated 1710. Often these can be found hanging over saisen-bako where the bell is rung by clanging a dangling rope with wooden corbel against the bell to awaken the gods; coins are tossed and a prayer given. Anyone who has been to a Japanese Temple or Shrine may have noticed one. A much thinner cast than the later bell we are offering

A rare, large and beautifully carved scholar's item made of huanghuali and carved with flower vases and a censer as the center piece, with the original hardware.The outer frame could be huanghuali or huali. It is unusual to find these wall decorations in huanghuali. Size: L. 86cm. W. 35cm Age: Late Ming, early Ching piece. Condition: No repairs. This charming doll is wonderfully detailed. She is all cloth with embroidered face features, beaded necklace and matching headband and thread hair. She is wearing a long under slip. Her dress is has multiple layers of gathered bands of fabric, and is topped with a full length apron which ties in the back.

Held in a private collection for the past 20+ years, she is in excellent condition and stands over 15" high.

An extremely rare pair of original 18th century elm wood lacquered folding chairs. All the parts are original including the original lacquer. Only replacements were the hardware in the folding joints as the originals had rusted out. The back panel has an open- work floral design with a cloud design on the upper and lower panels. This is a very beautiful multi-colour Peking glass vase representing longevity. Starting from the cover, the finial is in the form of a close lotus bud in cobalt blue. Surrounding it are butterflies inter-twaining with the clouds. On the body of the vase, it is represented by a collar of ruyi around the mouth of the vase, in cobalt blue colour.
