Rare Chinese Ming Dynasty Monochrome Moulded Porcelain Wine Cup

This rare porcelain wine cup was made during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) or possibly a little earlier. To the lower body is a band of moulded Buddhist rui lappets together with a moulded seal mark within the foot. The white porcelain body is particularly translucent, highly-fired with a high-pitched ring when tapped.

Ewer, with everted rim, handle and spout, decorated with floral spray, plantation leaves round the neck. Base glazed, footing unglazed and light reddish brown. PERIOD : Early Ming (1400-1487 AD) MEASUREMENTS: 16 cm wide. CONDITION: No chips, cracks, hairlines and free from restorations.

Porcelain decorated with fish among water weeds on the center, glazed base. PERIOD : Early Ming (1400-1487 AD) MEASUREMENTS: 18 cm wide. CONDITION: long hairline, two small chips to the \ rim; free from restoration.

Porcelain decorated with floral sprays on the center, glazed base. PERIOD : Early Ming (1400-1487 AD) MEASUREMENTS: 20 cm wide. CONDITION: small chips to the foot and rim, very short hairline; free from restoration.

This is Ming dynasty, Wanli period deep polychrome large swatow bowl. It stands on a short foot rim with a recess base. From the foot rim, it everted slightly and upwards, and then towards a mildly everted mouth rim.

The flattened centre of the bowl depicts the drawing of a very artistic “Hai Ma” shown crossing the sea surrounded by bellows of waves. On the cavetto, there are nine panels of some form of flowering plants while there are eleven panels on the outside of the bowl...

Crackled porcelain charger decorated with a scene depicting phoenix and chrysanthemum in the central field, and, around the cavetto, with flower and interspersed with bamboo motifs. Width = 36 cm Period : Ming Dynasty, late 16th century.Condition : frittings on the rim, no chips, cracks, hairliones and free from restoration.

A bronze bell dated Kanbun 10 (1670) which would have been suspended in front of a Shinto shrine worship hall, and struck with a knotted rope to awaken the gods to listen to one’s prayers. Inscribed in the surface around dials of lotus flowers is: An auspicious day in the 7th month of Kanbun 10, followed by the names Honda Yasutoki Ko and Hiramoto Sukeyuki opposite a dedication to the god of water the Hachidairyu-jin followed by a place name near Awazu in modern day Shiga prefecture...

This is a rare and good quality Ming dynasty longquan celadon export ware in very good condition. The dish stands on a short foot and then everted on a slightly flat base towards a short and flat everted scalloped rim. On the inside of the base of the celadon dish, it has a rare moulded motif with a “radiating sun ray” as compared to the usual incised or moulded lotus, floral, dragon or fish design...

Small Kendi, with rounded sides, bulbous spout and tall neck decorated outside with floral scroll and plantain leaves on the neck, glazed base. PERIOD : Wanli (1573-1619 AD) MEASUREMENT : 14 cm height Minor restoration to the end of spout, frittings on the head of the neck.

Chinese late Ming dynasty Dehua (blanc de chine) porcelain bombe form censer with flaring rim covered overall with a white glaze of warm pinkish tone with areas of darker pink pooling. The base and bottom of the flat foot are both unglazed. 5 5/8” diameter x 3 7/8” high. 17th century. From a Scottsdale, Arizona collection. The current owners purchased the censer in Oregon in 1978 from the collection of an American missionary to China prior to the Japanese occupation...

Kangxi (1662-1722) A Blue and white bowl decorated with a pattern of scrolling foliage whose flower and flower sprays on the center bowl. On the base, there is a Kangxi mark in double circle. Width = 14.5 cm Height = 7.3 cm

Small figure in urushi lacquer. Unusual model of a doll wearing large dress with details of flowers in mother-of-pearl and gold leaf. It suggests the gosho ningyo, which may have served as a model. Techniques of lacquer : golden background kinji, gold lacquer, silver lacquer, kanagai, kirikane, maki-e , nashiji. Unsigned. Japan Edo (1603-1868) 18th century. Height : 5,4 cm.
