This tan silk worsted wool world famous designer's blazer has been embellished by and signed Mimi Dee. It has bee embellished with wonderful rich brown toned silk designer fabric collage all around lapels. This could have been painted by hand. Fissured white is dribbled with blue and showing flashes of red in the cracks on this large, low Ofukei and Lacquer Guinomi, by Kodai Ujiie enclosed in the original signed wooden box. This is a handful, great tactile qualities and entrancing to look at. It is 8-8.5 cm diameter, 7 cm tall and in excellent condition, directly from his recent firing.
Kodai Ujiie was born in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture in 1990, and graduated advanced studies at the Tohoku University of Art and Design in 2015...

Heavily influenced by Koryo potting styles and techniques, the Tobei lineage has been crafting exceptional tea-ware implements for 13 generations. The piece shown here was made by the 12th generation (Tahara) and, due to its excellent character, was endorsed by the 15th tea master of the Urasenke School of Tea, Hōunsai. The natural ash glaze gradates from a glossy lavender towards the top to a light tan nearer the bottom...

Large Ido style Hagi chawan with original signed box by Hayashi Koyo. This chawan has a great ido influenced form and a wonderful hagi "landscape" with various tones of blush and spotting.

This chawan is in excellent condition and measures 5.5" X 3.6"

A round form covered in fissured green celadon by Kishimoto Kennin enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Seiji Chawan and endorsed inside by Zen Priest Tachibana Daiki of Daitokuji Temple, home of the Tea Ceremony.  Profound, like an empty blue sky, the form floats lightly over the dark clay of the perfectly formed kodai base.  It is signed within that base ring by Kennin.

Three volume set of books on modern Japanese potters coving roughly 100 artist per volume with approximately 200 pages each and measuring about 10" x 8.5". Each volume is fully illustrated with a two page spread per potter which includes the name and address of each in English and the mark the potter uses on his pottery.

Like the previous Iga sake set, here is another igneous form by enclosed in their original signed wooden boxes titled Yohen Iga Tokkuri and Guinomi respectively. Here he has breathed new life into the traditional form, both paying homage and yet leaving his indelible mark on it to carry it to the new century...

Wet swirls of color, lavender and thin blue fringed with yellow decorated this odd shaped slab-ware vase by Shigemori Yoko enclosed in a signed wooden box titled Murasaki no Hi (Purple Days). This is a work in unusual style by one of our favorite female artists. It is 22x 8.5 x 19.5 cm (9 x 3-1/4 x 8 inches) and is in excellent condition enclosed in a box annotated by her brother Naoki.

Being based in Kyoto we occasionally come across fine Chinese and Korean tea-ware to mix in with our Japanese offerings. Here we have an example of a ceremonial tea bowl by a Korean potter Ji Sun Tak who dedicated his life to reviving ancient techniques of the past by excavating and documentation of a number of historic kiln sites on the Korean Peninsula...

Shadows of flame exhume the granular qualities of the clay on this superb Yakishime Tea Bowl by Mihara Ken enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled simply Wan . Exquisite, on one side the clay is ash gray, the opposite lively earth tones, and between is an abrupt scorched-land of shadow and color, like that violent moment between awake and sleep...

Rich Oribe influenced candlestick or vase for dry arrangements, pierced with a circle, square and triangle design representing Sengai's universe. This piece is inspired by one of my favorite antigue Japanese pots.
