The inside of this bowl has been glazed, the exterior left in raw clay before the entire was dipped in white gold, creating a stark contrast between inner and outer surfaces by Ogawa Machiko enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Hakukinsai Hachi. It is 14.5cm (just under 6 inches) wide 8cm (3-1/4 inches) tall and in excellent condition.

This classic Mingei hanaire is by Mashiko potter Hyuga Munetoshi, a one time student of the Hamada kiln (?). Glazed in an exceedingly rich tessha/kaki iron glaze the pot has wax resisted decoration of flowers on either side of the pot. Created for both function and decoration , this pot is a great example of modern Mingei influenced Mashiko pottery. The glaze is far more complex and rich than the photos convey and will not disappoint in person...

Large classical Oni-Shino chawan by Kajiura Soshu (b. 1916). Showing a wide array of surface variations including a thick Shino together with large areas of an iron red glaze with the face of the bowl being covered in deposited ash from an intense wood firing. The interior has wonderful luminescent iron together with areas of Shino cells and and also has a ground down clamshell where something was stood inside the chawan during the firing, a common occurrence in this style of pottery. ...

This very liquid form seems already imbibed with rice wine, the base stable while the sides tilt slightly, sagging on the stool, a superb work by Abe Anjin. It comes wrapped with the original stamped wrapping cloth enclosed in the original wooden box titled Bizen Shuki and in turn enclosed in a black lacquered wooden box also stamped by the artist. Obviously, he felt this was deserved of greatness...
