Large, bold and timeless Shino chawan is by the master potter and legendary personality; Tsukigata Nahiko (1923-2006). Created in classical and timeless style guided by his master, Arakawa Toyozo, this chawan has a strong Momoyama inspired form with an aesthetic that is among the strongest of the 20th century Mino tradition. The intentionally distorted shape fits the hand well and the lip, mikomi and kodai all act to balance out a truly inspired work by a potter of the highest level.

Classic and robust Iga Mizusashi made by Tsujimura Shiro who needs no introduction. Powerfully thrown out of a whitish stoneware clay and fired in an anagama, this mizusashi is covered in ash with a small area of blushing on the read and rivulets of ash cascading down the face. The form of this pot is textbook Tsujimura Shiro and shows great reverence to medieval pieces while clearly showing his own unique style.

These cups were made by Moustiers France for Hermes, in their famous faience ware. This redware pottery is heavier than the Limoges porcelain in which this pattern is usually found. Here is a piece with attitude! A proud Iga vase with two “ears” like elbows on its hips by Kishimoto Kennin enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Iga Hanaire Somimi. Interestingly he has written the last characters as one instead of two in the title.
