A superbly crafted trumpeting form by legendary Tamba artist Ichino Masahiko enclosed in a wooden box. The bowl reflects the aesthetics of those imported Korean wares preferred by Sen-no-Rikyu in the Momoyama era. It has a bold, strong foot which rests perfectly on the table, both grounding the bowl and yet allowing it a sense of flight, as if the moment will soon be gone (and it will indeed!).

The deep sides of this striking bowl are covered in unusual shades of lustrous orange tinged feldspar by master craftsman Kato Yasukage XIV enclosed in the original wooden box titled Shino Chawan and signed By the 14th Generation Yasukage followed by his seal.  The coloring appears as if the bowl is still held in the whispering grasp of the flame, a bright yellow-orange which appears almost liquid in places.  Very unusual and a most unique piece by this important artist.

A pair of iron glazed, paddled (tataki) teabowl, both with hand cut feet. The left chawan glazed in temmoku with a tetsu-yu glaze over and the right bowl glazed in an alkaline clear with my saffron, iron yellow glaze over. Both bowls are tabi-chawan style and feel good in the hand.

Dawn breaks over snow laden boulders, the shadows waxing lavender on this spectacular incense burner by Kaneta Masanao enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Hagi Haku-yu Kamahen Kurinuki Koro. Two amazing sake cups by Yamada Kazu enclosed in the original signed wooden boxes titled Enbu Shino Guinomi and Kuro(black)Enbu Shino . Enbu means"dancing fire" and it is that dancing fire that pushed the clay and glaze of this works to the very limit where the glaze turned to molten glass and began to flow like lava down the sides and into the interior.
