Thick white glaze and lavender clouds on the surface of this cool and elegant White Hagi chawan by important artist Kaneta Masanao enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Hagi Kurinuki Chawan. Up from the base drive three fingers , the blanks left by the artists fingers when he dipped the bowl in glaze. The style is Kurinuki, not formed on a wheel but cut and worked from a block of clay, an approach the artist is famous for.

Only a master of aesthetics and a hermit could put his tea bowl together, here an amazing work by Harada Shuroku enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Bizen Ran-cho Chawan (Unsystematic). Inside the lid it is named Cloud Evaporating into Dragon.  The spectacular glaze effects are surpassed by the texture, seemingly made by an octopus; and it might take eight hands to hold this masterpiece.

An entrancing mesh pattern covers this delicate form by legendary potter Hamada Shoji enclosed in a fine kiri-wood box annotated by his son Hamada Shinsaku titled Kaki-yu Nuki-e Kabin.  Slight drag-marks add a tactile sense to the body, and dark black tinges the edges of the white resist patterns.  A tantalizing work, and one which I can honestly say is quite unusual.
